Every winter, The Great Northern transforms Minneapolis and Saint Paul into a celebration of creativity, climate action, and connection. From sauna villages and public art unveilings to live music and chef pop-ups, this festival is powered by you, our community.
But producing free and accessible events in winter takes real resources. The cost of creating large-scale, high-impact programming continues to grow each year.

About the event
The Great Northern Winter Festival is a celebration of winter, climate, culture, and creativity taking place Jan 28 - Feb 1, 2026.
This year we’re bringing our festival to the riverfront of St. Anthony Main with three music stages, outdoor performances, chef demos, public art, a giant winter playground, vendor markets, and visionary climate conversations.
