Mountain Heritage Days is a gift from Western Carolina University to the community, hosting week-long educational events showcasing how much we value this incredible, beautiful region we call home and its diverse culture and history.
Following with a free, outdoor festival where visitors can enjoy unique demonstrations, live entertainment, and tons of family-friendly activities, as well as arts and crafts / food vendors, celebrating Appalachian Mountain culture!

Volunteers for this activity will assist the annual Chainsaw Competition including set up and take down and help with contestant check-in.

Volunteer to help with the weekday reception and lecture at the Mountain Heritage Center prior to the weekend festival. This event will take place on Monday, September 21st, 2026. Volunteers will assist by ushering and greeting guests.

Volunteer to help with the weekday field day event prior to the weekend festival at the WCU Picnic Area. This event will take place on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026. Volunteers will assist with setting up, taking down, and other field day activities as needed.

Volunteers will assist with the Weekday Craft Demonstrations at the Catafount on Wednesday, September 23rd. Volunteer activities include loading, unloading, and assisting with demonstration activities as needed.

Volunteers will help support the Friday Night Concert located off-campus at Sylva's Bridge Park ahead of the weekend festival. Volunteers will assist performers in setting up, taking down, and greeting visitors.

Arrive 15-30 minutes prior to shift for check-in. Volunteers at the entry gates will welcome guests, handout festival maps, and answer questions. Requires standing, familiarity with festival maps, and counting guests with a clicker. Expect training provided prior to event to help with map familiarity and FAQs.

By submitting your application, you are accepting the Terms and Conditions.
There are a limited number of booth spaces available; they are assigned by the jurying committee, regardless of past involvement. Once receiving your application, a juried committee will review it and you will receive an email notification reflecting the status of your application. If your application is approved, booth fees will be due.
NOTE: PAYMENT IS DUE UPON ACCEPTANCE ONLY.
