Parking instructions
Recommended Parking Structures The following structures are the most convenient for the event, offering high capacity and standard rates (approx. $1.65/hour): Ann Ashley Structure (220 N. Ashley St.): One block west of Main St. This is often the primary recommendation for Pride attendees due to its size (800+ spaces). Washington Street Structures: Both the 1st & Washington (215 W. Washington) and 4th & Washington (123 E. Washington) structures provide quick access to the festival's north end. Library Lane (343 S. Fifth Ave.): A modern underground structure about three blocks east of the main festivities. It often has a flat rate of $5.00 after 3:00 PM on Saturdays. Maynard Street Structure (324 Maynard St.): Located near the University of Michigan campus, this is a good backup if the Main Street structures are full. Surface Lots & Street Parking Pricing: Street meters and surface lots are generally more expensive than structures ($2.40–$2.50/hour). Availability: Street parking is extremely limited during Pride due to road closures on Main Street (from Washington to William) and Liberty Street. Sundays: If the event falls on a Sunday, all city-owned street meters, lots, and structures are typically free. Pro-Tip: Park & Ride If you want to avoid downtown traffic entirely, use the TheRide’s Park & Ride lots. You can park for free and take a shuttle into downtown: Pioneer High School (Main St. at Stadium Blvd): The most direct route to the south end of downtown. Miller Road Lot: Convenient if you are coming from the west via M-14. Accessible Parking All city structures have designated ADA spaces. For Pride specifically, there is often an accessible drop-off zone; it's recommended to check the official Ann Arbor Pride website closer to the event for the specific year's layout.

Health & safety
Physical Safety & Security Uniformed Presence: You will see a mix of uniformed Ann Arbor Police officers and private security personnel patrolling the festival area. They work closely with organizers to monitor for threats and ensure a safe space for all participants. Emergency Services: First aid stations are typically located near the main information booths. In the event of a medical emergency, look for volunteers with radios or head toward the Jim Toy Community Center hub. Severe Weather: The event is "rain or shine," but in the case of lightning or high winds, the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) may issue alerts. If sirens sound, seek shelter in nearby parking structures (like Ann Ashley or Library Lane) or brick-and-mortar businesses. Inclusion & Accessibility ADA Compliance: All street-level festivities are wheelchair accessible. The City of Ann Arbor ensures that curbside parking and sloped entries are maintained. If you require specific accommodations (like a sign language interpreter), the city recommends contacting the City Clerk's office at least two business days in advance. Safe Spaces: The festival is designed as a "Safe Zone." Harassment of any kind is not tolerated. If you feel unsafe or experience harassment, report it immediately to a festival marshal or at the information tent. Hydration: August in Michigan can be humid. Organizers usually provide water stations, but it is highly recommended to bring a reusable water bottle. Personal Wellness Tips The "Buddy System": Especially for evening events or the Pride Bar Crawl, it is recommended to travel with at least one friend. ID and Essentials: Carry a physical ID. If you are participating in any activism-related portions of the event, some advocates suggest disabling "Face ID" on your phone and using a passcode for enhanced privacy. Sensory Breaks: If the crowds become overwhelming, the Jim Toy Community Center or the Ann Arbor District Library (Downtown Branch) often serve as quieter "cool down" spots with air conditioning. Prohibited Items While specific lists are updated annually, standard festival rules usually prohibit: Weapons of any kind. Open containers of alcohol outside of designated "Social District" or fenced areas. Glass containers.

Terms & Conditions
Ann Arbor Pride is a free, public event, there is no "ticket contract." Instead, by attending, you agree to: Public Event Waiver: By entering the festival footprint, you acknowledge that you may be photographed or filmed for promotional purposes by the organizers or media. Family-Friendly Conduct: While Pride is an adult-inclusive space, the festival generally maintains a family-friendly environment (especially the "Kids Zone") until 6:00 PM. Explicit or indecent behavior is grounds for removal under city public conduct ordinances. No Smoking/Vaping: In alignment with Ann Arbor city park and street fair rules, smoking and vaping are typically prohibited within the immediate festival barricades. Vendor & Sponsor Terms If you are participating as a business or non-profit, the terms are much stricter and involve a formal contract: Application & Fees: Payments are generally non-refundable unless the event is canceled by the organizers. Content Restrictions: Vendors are prohibited from distributing materials that promote hate speech, discrimination, or illegal activities. Insurance: Most vendors must provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) naming the Jim Toy Community Center and the City of Ann Arbor as "additional insured." Setup/Teardown: Vendors must comply with strict Load-In/Load-Out times to ensure Main Street is cleared for emergency vehicle access. Alcohol & "Social District" Rules Ann Arbor operates a Downtown Social District. The terms for drinking during Pride include: Cup Requirement: Alcohol must be in a specially marked "Social District" cup purchased from a participating licensed business. Boundary Limits: You cannot carry your drink outside the designated Social District boundaries or into other private businesses. Age Verification: You must be 21+ with a valid government-issued ID. 4. Code of Conduct The JTCC enforces a "zero-tolerance" policy for harassment. This includes: Respecting personal boundaries and obtaining explicit consent before physical contact or taking close-up photos of individuals. Not engaging with or escalating tensions with protesters (who are legally allowed to stand on public sidewalks but cannot impede the festival).
