In this event, a rider climbs onto the back of a powerful bucking bull and must stay on for eight seconds while the animal twists, kicks, and spins with incredible force. The rider grips a flat braided rope with one hand while keeping the other hand free in the air for balance. Judges score the ride based on the rider's control, technique, and style, as well as the bull's strength and performance. The combination of power, courage, and skill makes bull riding a crowd favorite. Bareback riding is one of the most physically demanding events in a rodeo. In this event, the cowboy rides a bucking horse without a saddle, holding on to a rigging that resembles a suitcase handle. The horse bucks, twists, and kicks in an effort to throw the rider off. The rider must maintain balance with one hand gripping the rigging while the other hand stays free in the air. To score, the cowboy must stay on for eight seconds while demonstrating control, strong body position, and synchronized movements with the horse's bucking motion. Bareback riding is one of the fastest and most intense events in the rodeo. Saddle bronc riding is considered rodeo's classic event because it comes from the traditional cowboy skill of breaking horses on the range. In this event, the rider uses a special saddle without a horn and holds a thick rein attached to the horse's halter. When the gate opens, the horse bucks and twists while the rider tries to stay balanced and in control. The cowboy must keep one hand free and ride for eight seconds while matching the horse's powerful movements. Judges score both the rider's style and control and the horse's bucking performance, making it one of the most exciting events in rodeo. Steer wrestling, also known as "bulldogging," is one of the fastest events in rodeo. In this event, a cowboy on horseback chases a running steer and jumps from his horse onto the animal. Grabbing the steer by the horns, the cowboy uses strength and technique to bring it to a stop and wrestle it to the ground so that all four legs face the same direction. Another rider, called a hazer, rides alongside to keep the steer running straight. The event is timed, and the fastest successful run wins Team roping is the only rodeo event where two riders work together as a team. One rider, called the header, ropes the steer around the horns or neck and turns the animal. The second rider, called the heeler, follows and ropes the steer's hind legs. Once both ropes are secured, the riders pull their horses in opposite directions to stop the steer and the clock. The event requires speed, teamwork, and precise timing to complete a successful run. Tie-down roping is a rodeo event that highlights a cowboy's speed, accuracy, and teamwork with his horse. In this event, the rider chases a calf and quickly ropes it with a lasso. Once the calf is caught, the cowboy dismounts, runs to the animal, and ties three of its legs together with a short rope called a piggin' string. The horse must keep the rope tight while the cowboy works quickly and efficiently. The timer stops when the cowboy finishes the tie and steps back, making this event a true test of skill, timing, and coordination. Barrel racing is a fast-paced rodeo event that showcases the speed and precision of both horse and rider. In this event, the rider and horse race around three barrels set in a cloverleaf pattern. The goal is to complete the pattern as quickly as possible while making tight, controlled turns around each barrel. Knocking over a barrel results in a time penalty, so balance and accuracy are just as important as speed. The combination of quick turns, powerful acceleration, and teamwork between horse and rider makes barrel racing one of the most exciting events in a rodeo. # [Mobile Black Rodeo](https://mobileblackrodeo.com) The **Mobile Black Rodeo** provides amazing rodeo action from some of the most talented black cowboys and cowgirls in the nation.
