About this event
CubeCon is a celebration of everything we love about the Cube format! Since
2022 we have gathered in Madison, WI to celebrate Magic's greatest format. If
you have never attended a Cube event you are in for something truly unique.
Participation in CubeCon does not require owning any Magic cards to take part.
All the cards, lands, tokens, and play pieces are provided for you.
**This year, CubeCon will be held at the Madison Mariott West in Madison, WI
on August 26-30. It will not be held within GameholeCon as in years past.** To
participate you will need a CubeCon event ticket. You can learn more about how
to attend and purchase your ticket [here](/cubecon2026/tickets).
"CubeCon might very well be the most fun MTG event of the year! It was rare to
find someone without a smile on their face! My personal highlight was winning
the "Cheese Stands Alone" event where the prize was artisan cheese!"
-Reid Duke
# What is Cube?
A Cube is a collections of cards meant for limited play. Cubes are usually
drafted in packs consisting of 15 cards that are randomized from a larger
pool. Early Cubes were created with the best and most powerful cards in Magic,
however today Cube has evolved into an artistic expression that can have
nearly any philosophy behind its construction. Cubing with powerful cards is
still plentiful, however more and more Cube curators are creating immersive
environments with unique styles, custom rules, and fun vibes.
"The event was really cool. Actually I had a lot of fun! I was impressed at
how much fun that I had! I found CubeCon to be very laid back and relaxing and
it brought me back to old times of playing at GPs or playing cubes at side
events of ptqs."

# The Main Event
At the heart of CubeCon you will find the world's largest organized cube
tournament featuring 75 unique Cubes from designers of diverse backgrounds and
interests. There is truly a Cube for everyone whether you're a tinkering
Johnny, an efficient Spike, or an artistic Vorthos with your head in the
clouds dreaming of your favorite plane from Magic history.
Even if you not looking to compete in a competitive draft environment, the
main event tournament acts as an amazing introduction to Cube due to the
diversity of Cube environments. This unique tournament format means it is
common to see the likes of Magic Pro, Reid Duke going toe to toe with your
friend Tim from St. Louis, MO.
"CubeCon is one of the most fun events of the year. In a lot of ways, it
combines the absolute best of an actual tournament and a Command Fest."

drafting/)
# What Else?
Outside of the main event tournament, CubeCon features open Cubing and gaming
with plenty of space for those who are looking to get away to something that
has a more relaxed pace. If you're more of a social butterfly, you'd love our
late night options whether you're belting your favorite ballad at Cube-e-oke
or slinging spells over a drink during Bar Cube Night. Maybe you're a Cube
designer who wants to stretch their wings or level up game play? You'd love
our seminar series featuring experts of the Cube format!
CubeCon has offerings for everyone, even families! We look forward to seeing
you in Madison, WI on August 26-30 for the best four days of Cubing with your
new best friends from around the world!
