Description

When Bree was found abandoned on a New York City street when he was just a few days old. A Good Samaritan brought him to the Wild Bird Fund, where my friend and co-volunteer Camille Licate fell in love and took him home to care for him. This portrait was made in their Brooklyn backyard, a few months before Camille had to make the tough choice to either give him up (because roosters aren't allowed in Brooklyn) or move away. Of course, she chose love, and now she and Bree live with her parents in Ohio. Bree plays a key role in Camille's humane education program, Kids for Positive Change. And by the way, that's grown-up Bree visiting an NYC gallery to see my portrait of Dualla in the 3rd photo included with this item! 50% of my profits from sales are donated to support animal rescue organizations. Prices are for a signed print (not including frame). 12" x 15" print is part of a limited edition of 50. 16" x 20" print is part of a limited edition of 12. Please inquire about the availability of other sizes (e.g. 7" x 8.75", 8" x 10").

Meet your seller

Janet Holmes Photography

I have always loved animals, but for many years I was afraid to get involved with rescuing them because I couldn’t imagine how I would deal with the heartbreak. About six years ago, I decided that animals needed me more than I needed to be comfortable, and so I began volunteering with rescue groups as a caregiver and photographer. I work primarily on a non-profit basis, donating my services and at least 50% of my profits to support animal rescue. Portraits from my "Barn Is My Studio" and "Nest: Rescued Chickens at Home" series have been exhibited in dozens of juried exhibitions, including United Photo Industries multi-city outdoor exhibition "The Fence" (7th edition).
