This is a set of 8 turned Christmas ornaments. They're a bit bigger than the old-fashioned C-9 light bulbs from long ago. I'm not sure if they are turned from maple or ash, they were made from a tree I got from a friend.
The bulbs were turned smooth then dyed various colors. I dyed them instead of painting them so the wood grains would be able to be seen in them. Because of the density differences even within an individual bulb, the dye didn't take evenly, so you can see a fair amount of variation in them. The wood was turned as it came from the tree, so there are knots in it, and there may even be a rough spot or a hole where a bug or worm had a meal off the tree. In my mind, that just adds to the character of the wood.
There is one each of natural, red, orange, yellow, magenta, green, blue, and purple. After dying, the bulb part was finished with 3 coats of lacquer, then the threads were painted a metallic silver.
The bulbs are about 3 inches long, and just under 1.5 inches in diameter.
I have 2 of these sets and this is set 2.

My family has been making crafts and selling them at craft shows for over 30 years. We have met lots of fantastic people during that time.
This is the first time we've set up at a virtual event so I didn't know how to display my items. To that end, I placed several similar but different items under most of my listings. So if an item looks interesting, please take a closer look at the page for that item because you may find just what you want hiding in the variations.
