The string of flags is approximately 3 feet wide, with an extra 2 feet of string on either end to facilitate hanging.
A prayer flag is a colorful rectangular cloth, often found strung along mountain ridges and peaks high in the Himalayas. They are used to bless the surrounding countryside, and include woodblock-printed text and images. As the images fade from wind and sun, the prayers embedded in a flag become a permanent part of the universe.
The flags are not hemmed, and they are indeed designed to disintegrate over time. Hanging them outside will release the prayers into the wind. Hanging them inside will let you enjoy them for years -- but the fabric will eventually fade.

Printmaking is my passion.
I love the challenge of creating an image using linoleum blocks: how to convey shape, volume, texture, and movement using only the binary of black and white.
I also love the physical process of making prints. Carving a block reminds me of the rhythm of walking, and creates a meditative mood. Printing a block by hand includes the excitement of the first reveal -- even if I've been carving a block for weeks, the final print is still a surprise.
I hope you will find my artwork to be challenging, surprising, thought-provoking, and fun.
