Try Y's Pi
Starts on Sunday, March 14th, 2021
Blacksburg, Virginia, United States
About the event
Join us for the 1st annual YMCA at Virginia Tech "Try Y's Pi" in partnership with Our Daily Bread, Blacksburg Bagels, Next Door Bake Shop, and Bollo's! Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th (3/14) around the world. Pi (Greek letter “π”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159. Pi Day is an annual opportunity for math enthusiasts to recite the infinite digits of Pi, talk to their friends about math, and to eat pie. Pi has been calculated to over one trillion digits beyond its decimal point. As an irrational and transcendental number, it will continue infinitely without repetition or pattern. While only a handful of digits are needed for typical calculations, Pi’s infinite nature makes it a fun challenge to memorize, and to computationally calculate more and more digits. Celebrate Pi Day with our delicious pie sampler! Order your ticket to purchase four pieces pie sampler from four of Blacksburg's best bakeries! Pie Flavors: Next door Bake Shop- Tomato Pie Our Daily Bread - Strawberry Rhubarb Pie Blacksburg Bagels - S'mores Pie Bollo's Cafe & Bakery- Apple Crumb Pie Collect your pie on Saturday, March 13, 2021 and enjoy! Ticket holders will collect their 4 piece pie sampler from the YMCA Thrift Shop at 1000 N. Main Street on 3.13.21. Details will be sent out on March 12. Participants will be sent a special link to vote for their favorite flavor and be entered to win great prizes! Thanks to Next Door Bake Shop, Bollo's Cafe & Bakery, Blacksburg Bagels & Our Daily Bread Bakery & Bistro for their partnership in this inaugural fundraising event. Proceeds from this event will support the YMCA at VT local programs including Meals On Main, Senior Connections and so much more. Thank you for participating, we hope you enjoy your PIE on PI Day!
