In this multi-day workshop, participants will learn the basics of creating pottery on the wheel! Taught by Amy Smoot, this workshop will walk participants through the basics of prepping clay, throwing their piece, and finishing their work. If you choose our night class, days 1 and 2 will be spent throwing on the wheel, and day 3 will be spent glazing. If you choose our Saturday class, you will have 4 hours of work time on day 1, with a 30 minute break after 2 hours, and then a 2 hour glaze day the next Saturday. Clay and glazes are included, and instructor will supply tools. All experience levels welcome! There is no minimum for this class, but there is a maximum of 4 participants for the January session and a maximum of 6 participants after January. No refunds will be given once registration closes. Sessions are as follows: -April 10, 11, & 18 from 6-8 PM -May 8, 9, & 16 from 6-8 PM -May 22, 23, & 30 from 6-8 PM -June 20, 21, & 28 from 6-8 PM -July 17, 18, & 25 from 6-8 PM About Amy Smoot: Amy Smoot is from Carrollton, GA and currently resides in Tuscaloosa, AL. She received her BFA in ceramics from the University of West Georgia in 2015. While there, she was studio technician and research assistant in the ceramics area. In 2019 she received her MFA from The University of Alabama where she first began teaching ceramics as a graduate assistant. Her practice consists of all types of ceramics techniques including mold-making, slip-casting, hand building, and wheel thrown pottery.  Amy began teaching for Kentuck in 2021 and join Kentuck's staff as Clay Studio Manager in 2023. This workshop is sponsored in part by the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the Holle Family Foundation.

Parking instructions
This class will be held in Kentuck's Clay Studio at 2014 5th Street. The entrance is in the Courtyard of Wonders. Look for the green door and trim! There are two parking lots next to the Courtyard of Wonders, and participants are also welcome to park in Downtown Northport.
