All equipment should have a historical look and tents have a canvas appearance from 20 feet away. Modern supplies should be hidden. Setup is subject to the event owners approval. Camping is primitive with no hook ups. Each person will still need a Weekend Pass.

This entrance ticket covers all Children's Track classes. All children must be accompanied by a designated care provider 16 years or older at all times. These are not drop off classes. All children attending ages 6-14 must buy this ticket. Children ages 5 and under are free with an adult.

This entrance ticket covers all General Education classes which are available all day in variety of subjects. Everyone attending must buy this ticket. Some classes are an additional fee. Make and Take classes are a ticket that needs to be paid for ahead of time.

Saturday 10-11, Drum Tent Create a 12-inch hand drum using horse hide in this hands-on workshop. Participants will build their own drum and matching beater while learning about traditional construction methods and materials used in historical percussion instruments.

Saturday 10-11am, Net Tarp Learning to identify wild mushrooms has long been an important outdoor skill, and this class offers an approachable introduction to the basics of safe mushroom identification. Instructor Frank Hyman, a professional mushroom hunter and educator, will share practical methods for recognizing common species and understanding what to look for in the field. Participants will learn using life-size mushroom models and take part in a guided learning walk on the property to observe mushrooms in their natural environment. This class is designed for beginners and focuses on building confidence through careful observation and hands-on learning. Frank’s best-selling book, How to Forage Mushrooms Without Dying: An Absolute Beginner’s Guide, will also be available for purchase for $15 (cash or check).

Saturday 10-11:30, Glass Tent Learn how to create your own glass beads using a Hot Head torch and a vibrant assortment of colored glass. This hands-on workshop introduces the basics of bead making while exploring the historical use of beads as adornment, trade items, and symbols of status in the Viking Age. Participants will have time to practice techniques and create several beads of their own to collect once fully cooled. All materials, fuel, glass, and use of student tools are included in the course fee. For safety, participants should wear natural fiber clothing, closed-toe shoes, and secure any loose hair. Safety glasses will be available to borrow if needed, though prescription glasses are acceptable. (A limited number of beginner startup kits may also be available for purchase separately for those wishing to continue the craft at home.)

Saturday 10-12, Wood Tent Learn traditional carving techniques while exploring the unique characteristics of different wood species in this hands-on spoon carving class. Participants will create their own beautiful, functional, and long-lasting kitchen or personal eating spoon while learning the basics of safe and effective wood carving. Participants should bring a cut-resistant glove if available, and any carving tools they would like to use or evaluate.

Saturday, 11:30-12:30, Makers Tent Explore the colorful world of natural dyeing! This class begins with an overview of historic dyes, mordants, and traditional techniques used throughout the ages. After the introduction, participants will take part in a hands-on dyeing activity, experimenting with beautiful natural colors. Whether you're new to dyeing or looking to expand your skills, this class offers a vibrant experience in bringing natural color to life! (Optional- Additional dyeables for sale)

Saturday 11:30-2:00, Wild Fiber Tent Learn the traditional art of basketry using natural materials gathered from the landscape. In this hands-on class, participants will learn how to identify, harvest, and prepare plants suitable for basket weaving. The class will also cover basic basketry techniques and guide participants through turning natural plant materials into functional handmade baskets.

Saturday 11:30-1pm, Drum Tent Create a unique wearable necklace rattle using bear hide in this hands-on crafting class. Participants will assemble and decorate their own rattle while exploring traditional materials and simple construction techniques.

Sat 12-2pm, Net Tent Hand-build your very own small Viking Age-inspired clay vessel in this creative and hands-on class. Using illustrations and examples based on documented archaeological finds and grave goods, participants will discuss historical forms and create a small clay project of their choice. Projects may include a drinking cup, tableware bowl, offering dish, small cooking pot, spice container, spindle whorl, weaving weights, game pieces, or other practical and decorative items inspired by the Viking Age. Finished pieces will be dried, fired, completed after the Academy, and shipped to participants following the event. (Shipping charges are not included and will be paid to instructor on site separately).

This class introduces participants to rigid heddle band weaving, covering everything from setting up the warp to creating a finished 11-strand warp-faced band. The class fee includes a complete rigid heddle band loom kit featuring a heddle, shuttle, fiber, backstrap, additional accessories, and instructions for continued use and future projects.

Sat 12:30-4pm, Maker's Tent Pack Basket Making Evidence of pack basket usage dates back to 900 AC all around the world. Come learn about and create your own smaller pack basket to be a part of this long standing traditional craft. Participants will be making baskets out of a variety of harvested materials with the traditional flat bottom bases like the Vikings would have. Participants will need to bring pruners and a sharp knife. Material fee includes reeds and preformed bases to create baskets.

Known for artisanal, wild-fermented meads inspired by traditional methods, Stardust Cellars bridges ancient practice and modern craft. This class explores the global history of mead, from early hunter-gatherer societies through the Viking Age and into today. It looks at how different cultures worked with local ingredients and wild yeasts long before modern science, and how those traditions evolved over time. The session also breaks down the science behind meadmaking, including microbiology, fermentation, chemistry, and physics, and how these principles are used by modern meadmakers. A comparison will be made between today’s tools and knowledge and what would have been available during the Viking Age. The class is free for walk-ins. There will also be opportunities to ask questions about mead history, science, and running a modern commercial meadery. Samples of wild-fermented meads from Stardust Cellars will be available for tasting as inspiration for your own mead making journey.

This beginner-friendly class explores the basics of beekeeping, the history of beekeeping through the ages, and what it takes to care for a hive today. Perfect for the curious beginner. Class includes plenty of time for questions and discussion. Optional candle craft is $12.

In this hands-on class, participants will create a brooch pin for securing a blanket or cloak, or craft an arm band, bracelet, or other wearable piece. Using simple tools and approachable techniques, you’ll shape and refine metal into an elegant design. This workshop is perfect for beginners and experienced makers alike, offering a chance to explore metalworking while creating something both practical and striking.
