Join Amy Smoot to create and play with clay! Students will have fun exploring a variety of hand building techniques to create functional and/or sculptural artworks. Students will receive instruction through each step of the ceramics process from creating to glazing and decorating their work. Building techniques will include slab building, pinching, coiling, stamping and more! All classes are limited to a maximum of 8 students and a minimum of 3. The dates, times, and ages of Clay Camps are as follows:
Session A: June 7-9; 9-11 AM; Ages 6-9
FULL: Session B: June 21-23; 9-11 AM; Ages 10-12
Session C: June 28-30; 9-11 AM; Ages 13-16
FULL: Session D: July 19-21; 9-11 AM; Ages 6-9
Session E: July 26-28; 9-11 AM; Ages 6-9
About Amy Smoot: Amy Smoot is from Carrollton, GA and currently resides in Tuscaloosa, AL. She received her BFA in ceramics from the University of West Georgia in 2015. While there, she was studio technician and research assistant in the ceramics area. In 2019 she received her MFA from The University of Alabama where she first began teaching ceramics as a graduate assistant. Her practice consists of all types of ceramics techniques including mold-making, slip-casting, hand building, and wheel thrown pottery.

This class will be held in our Georgine Clarke building at 1922 5th Street, Northport, AL 35476. The entrance is on 5th Street across from the Anders Hardware parking lot. Look for red sculptures out front and glass doors! There is a parking lot next to this building, and participants are also welcome to park in Downtown Northport.
