Steely McBeam
Steely McBeam is the official mascot of the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers, introduced in 2007 during the team's 75th anniversary season. He was designed to embody the blue-collar spirit, industrial heritage, and Irish roots of the city. The name was chosen from over 70,000 fan submissions and features a unique combination of Pittsburgh culture and history:Steely: Represents Pittsburgh's industrial steel heritage.Mc: Highlights the Rooney family’s Irish roots.Beam: A nod to both local steel I-beams and Jim Beam (the favorite drink of the fan who submitted the winning name).
