About the event
Thanks to the generous sponsorship from F&M Trust, Old Market Day is a FREE event in Downtown Chambersburg! This year's Rain or Shine event is scheduled for July 18th, 2026 from 9am-4pm! You will find over 100 handmade vendors, food trucks, downtown shopping, restaurants and so much more. Activities for all ages throughout the day! Old Market Day is followed by the Acapella & Unplugged Finals and the 1864:Ransoming, Burning, and Rebirth reenactment coordinated by the Franklin County Visitors Bureau starting around 6pm.

The Downtown Business Council of Chambersburg is looking for skilled hand crafted artisan vendors to join us at this year's Old Market Day! This event consistently sees over 10,000 visitors in the middle of July to celebrate the historical heritage of Chambersburg, PA. All mediums are encouraged to apply!

We do consciously limit the number of each type of vendor accepted and are intentional to not place their booths near one another when possible. 

New for 2026 - We will be following a No AI policy to honor and uphold the integrity of our authentically hand-made vendors. As stated in the guidelines below, if there are questions about whether or not AI was used, proof of artistic process may be requested before applications will be considered. 

 

EVENT GUIDELINES: Please read thoroughly!

1. Items being sold must be quality crafts or original art & must be made by the individual renting the space.

  • NO AI ART! Proof of design creation may be requested if there are any concerns regarding originality of work.
  • No antiques, commercially made, MLM vendors, or kit craft items will be accepted for the main festival route. Your booth will be inspected for compliance by event staff & other participating vendors; violators may be ejected on the spot.

2. If your craft is edible (mustard, soup mix, baked goods), do not use this form. Please use the edible craft application

3. Display, inventory, and other belongings may not exceed your rented booth space. Please note, you may be required to obtain a permit from the Pennsylvania Municipal Code Agency (PMCA) if your booth is a single structure over 200 sq feet in size.

4. Do not store or display merchandise on sidewalks, streets or in doorways.

5. Each vendor MUST have a current and valid Pennsylvania sales tax license and is responsible for collecting and remitting PA sales tax.

6. The event will be held rain or shine; space fees are non-refundable. If for any reason you are unable to attend after being accepted, contact the office immediately.

7. A “no call/no show” for this event will jeopardize future participation.

8. Acceptance into this event is not guaranteed from year to year, neither is space assignment.

9. Vendors are responsible for ALL trash removal. No exceptions.

10. All vendors must be cleaned up no later than 5:30pm.

Join us in Chambersburg, PA as we celebrate our history and heritage at Old Market Day! We are looking for food truck vendors to join this annual event now in it's 69th year! This event has been trending over 10,000 in attendance each year for quite a while now (weather permitting of course)

PLEASE apply sooner rather than later as our food truck spaces fill QUICKLY!

 

EVENT GUIDELINES: Please read thoroughly! 

1.  Items & Food being sold must be handmade and prepared by you or your direct employees. Your booth will be inspected for compliance by event staff and other participating vendors; violators may be ejected on the spot. 

2.    Booth spaces are approximately 400 sq ft. (roughly 2 parking spaces). 

a.       If your setup requires more than this allotted amount of space, you will be charged for the appropriate number of spaces needed to accommodate your entire setup. 

3.      Display, equipment, and other belongings may not exceed your rented space.

a.       Please note, you may be required to obtain a permit from the Pennsylvania Municipal Code Agency (PMCA) if your booth is a tent over 200 sq feet in size. 

4.    Each vendor MUST have a current and valid Pennsylvania sales tax license if applicable, and is responsible for collecting and remitting PA sales tax.  Please visit https://www.revenue.pa.gov/  for information regarding sales tax.

5.    Vendors selling food must obtain the appropriate current license Food Health License from the Borough of Chambersburg health department or PA Department of Agriculture.  A Food Health License application needs to be submitted prior to the event to the Borough of Chambersburg.  To obtain an application contact Irene Sosa 717-251-2465 or isosa@chambersburgpa.gov

6.    The street opens for vendors at 6 am. Traffic is still moving on the street downtown until 8 am.

a.    Inspections will start a little after 8, you must be ready by no later than 9

Are you a young entrepreneur (under 16) looking for an opportunity to share your work with over 10,000 people at Old Market Day? Please consider applying to vend with us in our dedicated Kid Vendor section! It is a great opportunity for young creatives to showcase their works and learn how to promote, sell, and work through customer service. 

Kid vendors MUST provide their own tent and table.

Are you a non-profit organization looking to promote your organization and connect with over 10,000 at Old Market Day? Or is your business dedicated to service or giving back to our local community in Chambersburg, PA? There is an opportunity for you to join us in our dedicated Community Partner section at Old Market Day on July 18th.

 

EVENT GUIDELINES

1.    To be eligible for a street space in the arts and craft area, items being sold by your group MUST be quality handmade crafts or original art created by members of the organization renting the space.  No antiques, flea market, commercially made, mass-produced, or kit craft items will be accepted.  Your booth will be inspected. Vendors who violate this rule will not be permitted to participate in future Downtown Business Council shows. 

2.    For fundraising/activity space, please describe the fundraiser or the activity (selling raffle tickets, registering voters, etc.).  You may have informational brochures on your table for patrons to take of their own choosing, but no mass distribution of paper materials (ie canvassing) is permitted. 

3.    The shows run from 9:00am to 4:00pm.  

4.    Streets close and set up begins at 6:15am, but you may unload onto the sidewalk only beginning at 5:45am. Volunteers will be stationed throughout the festival area to assist you in locating your space. Vehicles must be off the street by 8am, and you must be ready to “sell” by 8:30am. 

5.    Your booth must remain set up until 4:00pm. When tear-down is complete, you may bring your vehicle into the festival area, only long enough to load and leave. Vehicles will not be admitted before 4:30 pm. All spaces must be vacated by 5:30pm.

6.    Vendors are responsible for ALL trash removal. No exceptions.  All vendors must be cleaned up no later than 5:30pm. 

7.    The organization must have a current, valid Pennsylvania sales tax license, if required, and is responsible for collecting PA sales tax. Visit www.pa100.state.pa.us for information regarding sales tax.

8.    If for any reason you are unable to attend after being accepted, you must contact the office so that your space can be filled. 

9.    Standard spaces are 10x10, but you can purchase up to 2 spaces for a total 10x20.

   a.    Display, inventory and other belongings must fit within your rented booth space. 

   b.    Do not store or display merchandise on sidewalks, streets or in doorways. 

   c.    Please note: Tables, chairs, and tents/canopies are not provided.

11.  Groups who ignore these guidelines will not be accepted to future Downtown Business Council shows.
