About the event
In this ceramic workshop, students will create 2-3 simple forms using clay slabs and everyday objects as molds. Students will focus on smoothing out the surface of their forms in preparation for using the Mishima technique the second day. Overnight, your clay forms will get to a “leather hard” consistency. In this stage, your pieces will no longer be soft and flexible, but still hold enough moisture that is ideal for carving and incising lines into the clay. Once designs are carved, students will apply color inside those lines and then wipe away excess color to reveal their “drawings." This class will be held July 6 & 7 from 1PM-4PM This workshop is limited to participants 18+. There is a minimum of 4 participants and a maximum of 12. If the minimum is not met, participants will be refunded.  About Amy Smoot: Amy Smoot is the Clay Studio manager at Kentuck. She is from Carrollton, GA and currently resides in Tuscaloosa, AL.
