Midlothian Heritage Day

Midlothian Heritage Day is a beloved community tradition hosted by the Midlothian Downtown Business Association, celebrating the history, spirit, and charm of Historic Downtown Midlothian. Held on Saturday, October 31, 2026, the event features local vendors, family-friendly activities, entertainment, shopping, and seasonal festivities that draw residents and visitors from across the region. We invite businesses, artisans, nonprofits, and food vendors to be part of this exciting annual celebration.

Official Rules & Information

• Festival entry is free of charge and open to anyone in Midlothian (individuals, families,
  groups, and businesses). Theme is "Halloween Fun". 
• Completed entry forms are due by 10/10/26. The entry title and written description must be included on the form.
• All entry forms will be reviewed by the Midlothian Downtown Business Association (MDBA) Festival Committee and if it does not meet requirements, it will be addressed to the entrant. Entries that vary significantly from the description on the entry form will be disqualified. 
• The Festival is a family-friendly event. Scarecrow designs can be humorous or serious, as long as the message is positive. Designs that depict the following: violence, vulgarity, nudity, or politics are examples of entries that will be disqualified.
• Scarecrows may be installed between anytime between Oct. 10th-16th and will remain up until after Halloween. All must be removed by November 3rd at 5pm.
• Winning entries will be announced at Heritage Day on October 31st.
• Scarecrows must be picked up at the completion of the event on 11/3. Scarecrows not picked up by that date will be disposed of by the MDBA.

COMPOSITION REQUIREMENTS

• The MDBA will supply T-poles for scarecrows erected at Heritage Park. McCoy's will offer wooden posts for building your entry.
• Your scarecrow must be secured to the pole and reinforced to withstand weather. Entrants are responsible for the maintenance of their scarecrows. The MDBA reserves the right to remove any scarecrow that does not hold up to the natural elements. You will be notified beforehand and given a chance to fix your scarecrow.
• No materials may be put on the ground around the scarecrow so that the park lawn can be maintained.
• All materials must be attached to and remain on your scarecrow.
• Affix a permanent, weatherproof sign (8.5x11 inches) on your scarecrow stating your entry title and creator/sponsor.
• MDBA reserves the right to photograph and use photos of any entry for advertising and promotional purposes without compensation or written authorization.
