The Maggie Valley Barbecue Festival is an annual celebration of authentic Appalachian barbecue, community, and agricultural heritage, held in the heart of the Smoky Mountains. Featuring a Whole Hog Barbecue Competition, a Wing Competition, live music, vendors, and family-friendly activities, the festival is designed to attract regional visitors while honoring traditional pitmaster skills.
A core mission of the festival is to support and invest in local agriculture education. A portion of proceeds and fundraising efforts directly benefit Haywood County FFA, helping provide resources for student leadership development, hands-on agricultural learning, and career readiness. By connecting food, farming, and community, the festival strengthens the relationship between local agriculture and tourism while creating a meaningful economic and educational impact for Haywood County.
