In this two-day ceramics workshop, students will utilize hand-building techniques to create their own lidded vessel. Students will be shown multiple techniques used to achieve different types of vessels and lids. On the second day, students will focus on completing their work by painting with colorful glazes.
This class is for participants 18+ and has a minimum of 4 participants and a maximum of 10. If the minimum is not met, participants will be refunded. This workshop is non-refundable after supplies have been purchased and the registration deadline passes.

About Amy Smoot: Amy Smoot is from Carrollton, GA and currently resides in Tuscaloosa, AL. She received her BFA in ceramics from the University of West Georgia in 2015. While there, she was studio technician and research assistant in the ceramics area. In 2019 she received her MFA from The University of Alabama where she first began teaching ceramics as a graduate assistant. Her practice consists of all types of ceramics techniques including mold-making, slip-casting, hand building, and wheel thrown pottery. Amy began teaching for Kentuck in 2021 and join Kentuck's staff as Clay Studio Manager in 2023.

This class will be held in our Georgine Clarke building at 1922 5th Street, Northport, AL 35476. The entrance is on 5th Street across from the Anders Hardware parking lot. Look for red sculptures out front and glass doors! There is a parking lot next to this building, and participants are also welcome to park in Downtown Northport.
