This year, we are expanding our programming to include a variety of one hour classes for school-aged children, in a variety of categories. These classes will be in accord with the visual arts standards for the state of Alabama. Each studio in this series will feature a different visual arts activity that engages the kids, while teaching them important skills. This series will be a great opportunity to show how the arts can overlap traditional learning methods. We suggest ages 8 & up attend these crafts, but please let us know the age of your younger child when purchasing your ticket and we can make accommodations. Children under 10 need to be accompanied by an adult.
September will feature 4 classes:
Session A: Saturday, September 3; 11AM-12 PM
Drawing-We will practice geometric shapes, and learn basic drawing skills.
Session B: Saturday, September 10; 11AM-12 PM
Painting-We will explore color theory and learn some basic painting skills.
Session C: Saturday September 24; 11AM-12 PM
Paper Weaving- We will practice our coordination and dexterity while we learn the basics of weaving with paper.
Session D: Saturday, September 24; 1-2PM
Woven Turtles-We will practice concentration while using yarn patterns to make a cute woven turtle.
This class will be located in the newly available Studio 2 which is located behind Rusty the big red dog on our campus. Look for the blue double doors in the Courtyard of Wonders!
There is a minimum of 3 participants and a maximum of 14 per session. If the minimum is not met, participants will be refunded.
