Independence Day Celebration America's 250th

Downtown Smithfield invites local and regional artisan craft and commercial vendors to be part of Independence Day: America’s 250th Celebration, a signature community event drawing thousands of residents and visitors to the heart of downtown.

This patriotic celebration kicks off at 4:00 PM and concludes with a spectacular fireworks display at 9:00 PM. With attendance exceeding 5,000 people last year, this year’s milestone celebration of America’s 250th birthday promises even greater visibility and excitement.

Standard booth size: 10’ x 10’
Vendors must arrive and be fully set up prior to the start of the event.
We are seeking a curated mix of artisans and commercial vendors offering handmade, original, and high-quality products that enhance the festive atmosphere and shopping experience for attendees or an array of products or services to improve home or life. To help bring the celebration to life, artisans are encouraged to:

Decorate booths in red, white, and blue
Highlight patriotic, Americana-inspired, or celebratory items when possible
Payment will be collected upon approval of your application.
Booth assignments and vendor load-in instructions will be emailed to approved vendors one week prior to the event.

Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation (DSDC) is looking for energetic, community-minded volunteers to help us bring the magic of Independence Day to life! Because the holiday falls on a Saturday this year, we are kicking off the festivities early on Friday, July 3rd. We have a tight window to transform our streets into a celebration zone, and we can’t do it without a dedicated setup and breakdown crew. ? Event Details Date: Friday, July 3rd, 2026 Times: 3 Hours Shifts between 12:00 P.M.-10:00 P.M. ?️ What You'll Be Doing We have several opportunities Street Closures Event Setup Watermelon Social Inflatables Monitor Stage Crew and more! ☀️ Physical Requirements & Expectations This event is 100% outdoors, and July in North Carolina is notoriously hot! To ensure everyone's safety and success, volunteers should meet the following: Heat Tolerance: Ability to spend several hours outdoors in high summer temperatures. Mobility: Lots of walking, standing, and moving around is required. Lifting: Ability to lift and carry light-to-moderate event equipment (cones, chairs, signs) Attire: Comfortable, breathable clothing and athletic shoes are a must! Sunscreen and hats are highly recommended! Hydration Station: Your safety is our priority. We will have unlimited, ice-cold bottles of water available for all volunteers throughout the day to keep you hydrated and energized! ? Why Volunteer?
