Saturday, November 22 — 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Tour Hernando by carriage or trolley, meet costumed townsfolk, explore Victorian traditions, shop the Christmas Market, lace up for ice skating, and join a ghostly cemetery tour. Visit the DeSoto County Museum During Hernando Dickens of a Christmas Saturday November 22, 9AM to 4PM 111 East Commerce Street, Hernando Step back in time and explore the award-winning DeSoto County Museum, one of Hernando’s most beloved attractions and a highlight of Hernando Dickens of a Christmas. Enjoy live music, participate in the Twist and Loop writing activity, and take in fascinating exhibits that share the stories of Hernando’s rich history and heritage. The museum is also the pickup and drop-off location for the horse-drawn carriage rides and historic trolley tours (trolley stop located behind museum at Hernando Baptist Church). Be sure to experience the museum’s newest feature — the Mid-South’s only virtual indoor train. The immersive train car leads to a children’s play area inside the museum where kids can explore and learn through imaginative play. Special Presentation: From 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, the museum will host Dr. Brinda Fuller Willis, Mississippi Humanities Council Storyteller, presenting on the train as a modern form of transportation and its role in the Great Migration of African Americans from the fields of Mississippi to northern cities and factories. Visit House of Grace at the Museum: During Hernando Dickens of a Christmas, stop by the DeSoto County Museum to visit the House of Grace. Guests can enjoy warm drinks, sweet treats, and handmade gifts, all available for donations supporting their mission to help survivors of domestic violence and their children. Certain services, such as housing assistance, counseling, and case management, are available exclusively to shelter clients, ensuring that each resident receives the focused care and privacy they need during their stay.
