Gaston Writers Expo

Authors are selected for the Gaston Writers Expo with the goal of creating a diverse and engaging experience for the community. We strive to represent a variety of genres, writing styles, subjects, and interests so that attendees can discover books and authors that appeal to a wide range of readers. 

All submitted works must meet the same general criteria outlined in the Gaston County Public Library’s Collection Development Policy.  This policy can be reviewed on the Library’s website – www.gastonlibrary.org.  

The Library may limit the inclusion of materials generated primarily by artificial intelligence (AI) due to concerns regarding accuracy, authorship, and copyright. This includes materials featuring AI-generated illustrations. Applicants should disclose the use of AI in the creation of their submitted works when completing the application. 

Each participating author will be provided with a table and chairs for their booth. Authors are responsible for managing and selling their own books. Wi-Fi will be available for authors who use card readers or other electronic payment methods. 

Traditionally published authors who would like to have a bookseller available to sell their works should contact the Library’s Outreach Coordinator for more information and to discuss available options. 

Applicants are encouraged to review all event guidelines before submitting their application. Submission of an application does not guarantee acceptance.

The Gaston Writers Expo brings together authors, readers, local organizations, and businesses to celebrate the storytelling community and connect attendees with resources and services. Vendors and organizations are selected with the goal of creating a diverse and engaging experience that reflects the interests and needs of our community. 

Priority may be given to businesses, organizations, and service providers whose products, programs, or services are relevant to readers, writers, families, education, literacy, the arts, or the broader storytelling community. We strive to provide a variety of offerings while avoiding excessive duplication among vendors and organizations. 

Participating vendors and organizations will be provided with a table and chairs for their booth. Participants are responsible for staffing and managing their own booth, including any sales, transactions, displays, and materials. Wi-Fi will be available for participants who use card readers or other electronic payment methods. 

Vendors and organizations may distribute appropriate informational materials, promotional items, and other resources related to their organization or business. Any products offered for sale should be appropriate for a family friendly library-sponsored community event.
