Free Play Florida November 18-20, 2022 Volunteer Application This year Free Play Florida is back and giving our visitors a passport to journey “Across the Gamerverse” through the past, present, and future of pinball, arcade, and home consoles. Step into different times and worlds filled with wonder, amazement, and pivotal moments in gaming history while creating memories for your critical role in the future of the Gamerverse! Please read all the content below as it will provide helpful information on how you can volunteer. You may not realize this, but everyone you see from the people selling tickets, to the people who keep the games up and running are volunteer staff graciously donating their time and energy. Volunteering at Free Play Florida requires some commitment of your time, but is a great way to make new friends and enjoy the event with an added sense of camaraderie. In addition, as we are a registered non-profit organization, volunteer hours can be used for community service requirements. It's also just a lot of fun! If you are interested in becoming a Free Play volunteer, please review what volunteering entails. Job Duties: Volunteers assist with various tasks at the event as assigned by the volunteer coordinator. Some of the areas that you may be assigned to work are game tournaments, doorman duties, special guest hospitality, game sanitization or other tasks throughout the weekend. During your shift you may be assigned to a rotation of the different duty areas. Volunteer Requirements: As a volunteer, you are expected to arrive for your shift on time, dressed appropriately (jeans or shorts and t-shirt with sneakers along are the most comfortable), ready for work, and with a good attitude. We expect volunteers to treat each other, Free Play Florida patrons, and staff in the same manner that they would want to be treated: with respect and courteous attitude at all times. Volunteers should plan on pitching in when needed, working hard, and enjoying what the show has to offer. In exchange for your volunteer assistance, you will be provided with some great incentives depending on how many shifts you decide to work. Prior to the event all volunteers will be provided more detailed information about show layout and job duties. * Volunteers who work shifts totaling at least 4 hours will be provided with a 1 day event pass. * Volunteers who work shifts totaling at least 8 hours will be provided with an exclusive staff shirt to keep, a weekend pass to the event, and a ticket to the After Party. * Volunteers who work shifts totaling more than 8 hours will be provided with an exclusive staff shirt to keep, a weekend pass to the event, a ticket to the After Party, and some extra swag. You help to make this event so much fun for all of the attendees and we love to see the variety of machines that show up. 

 

We think we’ve got some really fantastic incentives to offer just for bringing your games to the event! You can earn Weekend Passes to Free Play Florida, admission to the after hours party on Saturday night, Raffle entries to win amazing prizes, an amazing FPF t-shirt, and even get your hotel room paid for.

• Bring 1 Game and you will earn - 1 Weekend pass with admission to after party, and 1 Raffle entry
• Bring 2 Games and you will earn - 2 Weekend Passes with admission to after party, and 2 Raffle entries
• Bring 3 Games and you will earn - 3 Weekend passes with admission to after party, and 3 Raffle entries
• Bring 4 Games and you will earn - 4 Weekend passes with admission to after party, and 4 Raffles entries
• Bring 5+ Games and you will earn - 4 Weekend passes with admission to after party, 5+ Raffle entries based on number of games, and a Free Play Florida t-shirt
• Bring 10+ Games and you will earn - 4 Weekend passes with admission to after party, 10+ Raffle entries based on number of games, and a Free Play Florida t-shirt, and 2 nights hotel room NOTE: Credited at END of show, must provide receipt, must be booked at Caribe Royale, reimbursed for 2 nights standard room.

Game Requirements

All pinball and arcade cabinets brought to Free Play Florida should be in good working condition. We ask that all machines remain on the show floor and are set to free play for the entirety of the event. The ballrooms at Caribe Royale are huge and we will look to fill every space with games, vendors, and fun experiences. Registering early helps us to plan out the best possible show with the most variety of games. Oh, and did we mention there is a real loading dock?!

 

What Games We're Looking For

Classic and current Arcade and Pinball machines! Do you have a custom machine? We like to see those too. At this time, we have enough consoles and retro computers for the console museum.

 

Liability

Free Play Florida has a dedicated volunteer staff to keep a watchful eye on the event floor and we do our very best to make sure that machines are not damaged during the event. However, we cannot be held liable for any damages.

 

Games for Sale

Free Play Florida is a great place to buy, sell, or trade games. If you plan on bringing a game that you would like to sell you are welcome to post information on your machine. Just make sure that the game remains for the entire event.

 

Please fill out the application form with your information, along with the number of games your will be committing to bring, we will follow up in the upcoming months prior to the show to ensure you're still on track.

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

• You must transport your own games to and from the Free Play Florida event venue.
• Please make sure all games are in top working order, any games arriving non-working, dirty, or broken, will be refused.
• Load in times: Thursday hours TBD (most likely early afternoon), Friday 8am till 2pm. We'll communicate with you in more detail closer to the show.
• Load in is at the rear of the convention space at the Caribe Royale resort. There is a dedicated loading dock that can accommodate multiple trucks at a time as well as a ramp. All games can be dropped off and brought directly through the roll up door and onto the main floor of the show.
• Please be courteous to other people loading in, once you have the games on the floor, please remove your vehicle from the loading dock area. The resort offers lots of parking.
• Please look for show representatives for help, questions, or a big hug (deserving so, for helping us fill the room with your awesome games!)

Founded in 2014, Free Play Florida is an annual three day celebration of electronic gaming of all kinds driven by the enthusiastic gamers of the south east. Over 250 arcades, pinball games, and consoles are all set to free play, no quarters needed.

 

Free Play Florida is a 501c3 non-profit organization run entirely by dedicated volunteers. Every dollar from donations, sponsors, and ticket sales goes directly back into putting on the show and supporting the local gaming community.
