Deadline: Aug 31, 2022 (Deadline passed)
Fall Fest Ambassadors have two key responsibilities: 1) you are a personal connection between the Chamber and the artisans, and 2) you help and guide Fest visitors by answering there questions. Ambassadors are typically assigned to a single block or area for their shift. When you volunteer for multiple shifts, we do our best to make sure that you are assigned to the same block for all their shifts so you have the opportunity to develop a rapport with their artisans. As an ambassador, you’ll stay in touch with your artisans throughout the shift or shifts. Artisans may have questions about when the Fest closes, when they can get to their vehicles to restock their booth, or where they can get change. Sometimes artisans work alone, and they may need someone to stand in their booth for a few minutes while they run to the bathroom—and they might need to ask you where that bathroom is. Because you’ll be wearing your very special Yellow Fall Fest Volunteer shirt, Fest visitors are also likely to ask you questions. Don’t worry about having all the answers. First, we’ll train you up on all the important points. Second, before you go out on your block for the first time, we’ll connect you with a long-time Fest volunteer; you’ll be able to shadow that volunteer for the first 30-45 minutes of your shift. You’ll have the opportunity to listen, learn, ask questions, and have fun while you’re shadowing. You’ll also have a 2-way radio so you can get help with questions that you can’t answer yourself.
Deadline: Aug 19, 2022 (Deadline passed)
This is a great way to earn Community Service Hours! Dubbed Bluebees because they wear blue Fall Fest shirts, these are student volunteers, age 13-17 Bluebees help in a variety of areas--delivering water to artisans, booth sitting if an artisan needs to run and get food or use the bathroom, and wherever else help is needed.
Deadline: Aug 26, 2022 (Deadline passed)
BLOCK CAPTAINS As Block Captain you are the primary point of contact and information for your artisans. Block Captains guide the artisans on their block from arrival and set-up to tear down on Monday. Block Captains play a vital role in making sure each of their artisans gets their materials unloaded and set up without creating problems for other artisans on the block. Block Captains are required to stay in touch with their Artisans throughout the weekend but they are not expected to be at the Fest all day, every day. On Monday, after the Fest closes, the Block Captains will help guide the artisans through checkout, packing up, and leaving. Block Captains have to be on their blocks during setup and tear down. Some blocks setup on Friday afternoon (about 3:00 pm) and Saturday morning (about 4:00 am, yes, AM). Other blocks don’t start to set up until Saturday morning (at 4:00 am). All of the blocks start to tear down on Monday afternoon at 4:00 pm. Block Captains are expected to check in with their artisans throughout the Fest, but they are not expected to be at the Fest all day, every day. Being a Block Captain is a lot of work, and they have a lot of fun! SCHEDULE: In addition to setup and tear down (described above) you should be on your block for at least an hour at the beginning of each day (8:30-9:30), be at the afternoon meeting (around 3:30, but times may vary), and on your block from after the meeting until about 5:30 Saturday and Sunday. SUPERVISED BY: Block Captain Chair Bert Behnke

COMMUNICATIONS During Fall Fest weekend, the Chamber office turns into Chamber Base (literally a command center). Phone calls come in from outside wanting details about the Fest, and two-way radios with our volunteers are monitored at all times. We also provide a text message service for artisans to help them communicate their needs to us. Yes, it is just as crazy as it sounds! So, if you can keep your cool, even amongst craziness, and if you know tons about Fall Fest or are willing to learn, then THIS is the place for you!
