About the event
The City of Baltimore Office of Equity and Civil Rights is working with the Baltimore City Association of the Deaf (BCAD) to host two trainings that will help increase the competence with which the City and service providers interact with members of the deaf and hard of hearing community. A training focused on first responders will take place Wednesday, November 6 at 10am. A general training will take place Thursday, November 14 at 2pm. Each will last 2.5 hours. The topics we will cover in these sessions include: • How to interact with Deaf individuals • Deaf awareness and communication skills • Effective use of interpreters, pro and contra of VRI (Video Remote Interpreting)
