Joni Esser-Stuart will be teaching a three hour fused glass dish making class! Each student will use a 6 x 6 black glass palette to design either a candy dish or a sushi dish using other fusible glass as decorative elements.
The students’ projects will be fired twice to achieve the desired outcome and therefore the final finished projects will be available approximately two weeks after the first class session.
The pickup date will be determined at a mutually agreed time during the first class session.
All participants must wear closed toed shoes to attend the workshop!
There is a $25 materials fee for this workshop which must be paid to the instructor via cash or check at the beginning of the workshop.
The minimum for this class is 5, and the maximum is 10. If the class does not meet the minimum, participants will be refunded. Tickets are non-refundable once the registration deadline ends. Please email Molly Nelko, Arts Education Manager, at mnelko@ with any questions.
About Joni Esser-Stuart: Joni Esser-Stuart is originally from Wisconsin but has lived in the South for more than 25 years. She has taught graduate and undergraduate social work courses at Kansas State University, the University of Southern Mississippi, and the University of Alabama. She loved working with students and enjoyed teaching and working on her research projects. She was also involved in community service and arts organizations. She often used her grant writing skills to benefit and enrich the community.Joni has spent the last several years developing her skills as a fused glass artist. She enjoys making decorative and functional art, designing jewelry, teaching workshops and classes. Her colorful platters and one-of-a-kind pendants are truly unique and women of all ages love wearing her fused glass art. Joni divides her time between her home in Northport, Alabama and Pembroke Pines, Florida.Made possible in part by the Alabama State Council on the Arts.

This class will be held in our Georgine Clarke building at 1922 5th Street, Northport, AL 35476. The entrance is on 5th Street across from the Anders Hardware parking lot. Look for red sculptures out front and glass doors! There is a parking lot next to this building, and participants are also welcome to park in Downtown Northport.
