All Food Trucks and Trailers are considered Mobile Food Vendors (MFV). This event will have a mix of food tents, trucks and trailers.
Mobile Food Vendor (MFV) Fire Safety & Administrative Requirements
All food vendors must comply with the following requirements in order to operate:
MFV requirements
All MFVs shall have a current North Metro Atlanta Fire Marshal’s Office MFV approval sticker. Any of the following municipalities can issue the MFV approval sticker:
• Alpharetta
• Brookhaven
• Cherokee County
• Forsyth County
• Johns Creek
• Milton
• Roswell
• Sandy Springs
• Woodstock
Fire Safety inspections will be conducted on each MFV and food tent to ensure compliance with currently adopted fire codes. We will not conduct inspections to approve MFVs at the Brookhaven International Festival.
1. Certificate of Insurance (COI)
• All vendors must submit a current Certificate of Insurance (COI) no later than September 1.
• Once approved, a copy of the City COI template will be provided to ensure proper coverage and required language.
• COIs must meet all city requirements to be approved.
2. Automatic Fire Suppression Systems
• All automatic fire suppression systems must be serviced at least every six (6) months and after any system activation.
• Ensure dates on the inspection tag are current (within six months) at the time of the Brookhaven International Festival.
• Servicing must be completed by a qualified and certified technician.
• A current inspection tag and certificate of inspection must be available on-site.
• Vendors who cannot provide proof of current servicing will not be permitted to operate.
3. Exhaust and Duct System Cleaning
• Exhaust and Duct systems must be professionally cleaned and properly maintained.
• Ensure cleaning label is provided on the exhaust hood that includes the following information:
Date of cleaning.
Name, address, and phone number of cleaning company.
• Excessive grease buildup in exhaust hoods, ducts, walls, floors, generators, or tailpipes is strictly prohibited.
4. Fire Extinguishers
• All required fire extinguishers must be fully charged, properly mounted, and with current inspection tags.
• Each MFV shall have a Class K extinguisher and a 2A10BC rated fire extinguisher.
• Ensure dates on the inspection tags are current (one year) at the time of the Brookhaven International Festival.
• MFVs will not be allowed to operate at the event with discharged, expired extinguishers or missing inspection tags.
5. Separation Requirements
• MFVs shall be at least 10 feet from other MFVs.
• MFVs shall be at least 20 feet from cooking tents.
Cooking Tent Requirements
1. Certificate of Insurance (COI)
• All vendors must submit a current Certificate of Insurance (COI) no later than September 1.
• Please refer to the attached City COI template to ensure proper coverage and required language.
• COIs must meet all city requirements to be approved.
2. LP Gas Tanks
• LP gas tanks shall not be inside/under the tent.
• Pressure relief devices shall be pointed away from the tent.
4. Fire Extinguishers
• All required fire extinguishers must be fully charged, properly mounted, and with current inspection tags.
• Each cooking tent shall have a Class K extinguisher and a 2A10BC rated fire extinguisher.
• Ensure dates on the inspection tags are current (one year) at the time of the Brookhaven International Festival.
• Cooking tents will not be allowed to operate at the event with discharged, expired extinguishers or missing inspection tags.
5. Separation Requirements
• Cooking tents shall be at least 10 feet from other cooking tents.
• Cooking tents shall be at least 20 feet from non-cooking tents.
• Cooking tents shall be at least 20 feet from MFV.
Vendors found in violation of these requirements will not be allowed to operate at the Brookhaven International Festival.
