Join Amy Smoot to create and play with clay! In this multi-day workshop, students will have fun exploring a variety of hand building techniques to create functional and/or sculptural artworks. Students will receive instruction through each step of the ceramics process from creating to glazing and decorating their work. Building techniques will include slab building, pinching, coiling and more! Registration ($185) is for all 4 days of this multi-day workshop, and all supplies are included. See below for upcoming After School Clay Play options. All Clay Plays will meet for 4 Tuesdays from 3:30-5:30 PM. All Clay Plays are for ages 7-12. Here are the upcoming dates: -March 5, 12, 19, & 26 -April 9, 16, 23, 30 -May 7, 14, 21, & 28 This class has a minimum of 3 students and a maximum of 10. If the class does not meet the minimum, participants will be refunded.  Please email Amy Smoot at asmoot@kentuck.org with any questions.  About Amy Smoot: Amy Smoot is from Carrollton, GA and currently resides in Tuscaloosa, AL. She received her BFA in ceramics from the University of West Georgia in 2015. While there, she was studio technician and research assistant in the ceramics area. In 2019 she received her MFA from The University of Alabama where she first began teaching ceramics as a graduate assistant. Her practice consists of all types of ceramics techniques including mold-making, slip-casting, hand building, and wheel thrown pottery.  Amy began teaching for Kentuck in 2021 and join Kentuck's staff as Clay Studio Manager in 2023. This workshop is sponsored in part by the Alabama State Council on the Arts, the Holle Foundation, and the Arts & Humanities Council of Tuscaloosa.

Parking instructions
This class will be held in our new clay classroom located at 2014 5th Street, Northport, AL 35476. The entrance is in Kentuck's Courtyard of Wonders. There is a parking lot next to this building, and participants are also welcome to park in Downtown Northport.
