2026 - WinterFest Electric Light Parade

Official Cheer Team / Military or Performance Squad Category Description:

Parade entries are encouraged to be creative through costumes, materials, and ideas when developing their entries. HOLIDAY LIGHTS, LIGHTS,  LIGHTS! is this year’s theme. Let’s light up Water Street! This is a lighted night parade, the incorporation of lights is mandatory. 

Official Cheer Team / Military or Performance Squad:

Cheer/Dance/Drill /Flag Team (UNLV, Raiders, etc...)

or Military or ROTC Performance Squad:

        Color Guard

·       Minimum 10 official category participants, per entry /

        Maximum 50, per entry

·       This is not a “General Walking Group Category or Dance

         School/Dance Class Category”  Cheer, Drill, Dance, Flag

        Team entry must be an official CCSD or Nevada School

        Affiliated Team Group or Official Sports Team

        Cheer/Dance/Drill Team (UNLV, Raiders, etc...)

·       All participants and equipment must be dropped off and

        picked up outside the Parade Staging area. Please plan

        ahead.

·       Equipment Transport vehicles are NOT PERMITTED as

        part of entry, no busses, no box trucks, no box trailers,       

        etc.., such vehicles will not be allowed within the Parade

        Staging area.

·       1 vehicle allowed if it is providing music for the entry

         (vehicle must be decorated)

·       School Bus Parking / Equipment Trailer Parking designated

        at Burkholder Middle School

·       All performances to be done while progressing down the

        parade procession, no stopping to perform, no stunts, no

       drill showcase, etc…. Entry must keep pace with parade

       procession.  Non-Compliant Entries will be disqualified from

       winning any prizes and could be asked to exit the parade

        route without finishing the procession.

• Please tell all Parents, Chaperones, and Participants where Parking / Participant / Student Pick-Up is located. 

BAND CATEGORY DESCRIPTION:

·       Band Entries must consist of 2 or more individuals to

        qualify as a Band.

·       CASH PRIZE AWARD CATEGORY

        Judging Criteria:  ALL Parade Entries, INCLUDING

        BANDS, will be judged on the following:

         Best Incorporation of the Theme (Holiday Lights, Lights,

         Lights!)

         Quantity / Incorporation of Lights

         Originality / Creativity

         Overall Appeal

·       Band Type:  

        High School Band (Jazz, Marching, etc…)

        Junior High School Band (Jazz, Marching, etc…)

        Independent Band (must consist of 2 or more individuals

        to qualify as a band)

·       All participants and equipment must be dropped off and picked up outside the Parade Staging area. Please plan ahead.

·       School Band Equipment Transport Vehicles are permitted, 1 Equipment Transport Vehicle per entry only (Box Truck, Box Trailer, etc…). No other vehicles allowed.  Must notify on Parade Application, including size/length.

·       Entry to include band participants only.

·       Participant Pick-Up after the parade designated on Magnesium St.

·       School Bus Parking / Equipment Trailer Parking designated at Burkholder Middle School.  See Map Provided for Bus Directions to Student Pick-Up.

·      BANDS ONLY!  ALL BANDS WILL EXIT the Parade Route using W. Victory Rd. at Iron St.

PLEASE LET ALL PARENTS, CHAPERONES, etc... know where student pick-up/bus parking will be.

FLOAT ENTRY:      

·       CASH PRIZE AWARD CATEGORY

·       Floats are qualified as a “Uniquely Created Traveling Unit” 

        cars, trucks, or general motor vehicles decorated with lights

        do NOT qualify as a Float

·       Float entries require a separate “Float Description” 

        describing the intended entry, this is separate from the

         required Parade Script 

·       Float Type:  (See Float Type Samples Attached)

                 Motorized Float (Vehicle, Golf Cart….) Vehicle / Cart                   must be 100% hidden from outside view.  (Ex:  

                 Amusement Park Electric Parade Floats)

                 Trailer Float (Decorated Trailer towed by a motorized

                  vehicle)

                  Push Float (Manually operated, pushed or pulled

                  manually)

FLOAT ENTRIES MUST FIT WITHIN ONE OF THE THREE TYPES OF FLOATS OUTLINED WITHIN THE FLOAT CATEGORY.  To assist in choosing float type, see Float Type Samples Attached for additional information.
