Although it appears a uniform metallic grey, it will leave a red streak when drawn across a tile because of its iron content. Its name is taken from the Greek word "haima", meaning blood. One early legend tells that Hematite deposits were formed wherever soldiers spilled their blood in battle. Ancient warriors would carry Hematite stones with them, for courage, strength, and protection in battle. When you are faced with a difficult challenge, look to Hematite for those same qualities. Hematite is an excellent stone for grounding, calming and balancing. If you are stressed or worried, Hematite can help to pull you back into the here-and-now. It is said to clarify thoughts and encourage a positive outlook on life. Use Hematite to combat the effects of insomnia, jet lag, or overwork. If you find yourself in situations where the energy is negative, or simply chaotic, Hematite will help you to stay calm and grounded. Hematite quartz gemstones.
