Description
I used gold, copper core wire to crochet teardrops. I then used a hand-dyed (brown/taupe) slurry of abaca fiber and water (as used in paper making) and applied it to the teardrop, pressing it into place. As the paper dried, it pulled the tear drops into a gentle curve, providing additional dimension. They are also translucent when held up to light. The teardrops were then hand painted with abstract lines in shades of gold, violet and teal, and a clear glaze was applied. Wire wrapping was used to attach the drops to the nickel-free gold earring wires.
The earrings hang to a length of about 1 3/4 inches. The teardrops are 1 1/4 inches long and 5/8 inch wide.
