I came to art seven years ago through the Arts in Medicine studio at Moffitt Cancer Center. I established a daily arts practice. As an emerging artist that practice helps me to mitigate pain, anxiety, and other emotions I experienced newly after both triple negative breast and chondrosarcoma cancers. The body of work presented here takes you through a journey of pain, joy, and rebirth of the spirit.
All my body of work is abstract and expressive in nature using ink, watercolors and/or mixed media. The use of patterns in much of my work is a testament to the meditative power of repetition in what I call the dance and the Zen of the tangle. Each unique piece tells a symbolic story, inviting the viewer to connect to their own experiences or the work can just be admired for its unique abstract colors and patterns. I advocate for the power of the healing arts as a way of self-expression and as part of mind, body, spirit, and planet care.
