I’ve enjoyed a successful career as an illustrator in the Toronto advertising scene. In the last few years I’ve been transitioning more to the fine arts and discovering my love for painting.
I’ve been drawing digitally for the last 25 years so it’s nice to get the hands dirty again. I’d call myself a traditional, representational landscape painter who enjoys both plein air painting and studio work. I paint predominantly in oils, however I’m also passionate about my travel sketchbooks and fill them with ink and gouache watercolour studies.
Born in Vancouver but residing in the Toronto area for most of my life, I’m also drawn to the rugged beauty of my mother’s birthplace of Newfoundland where I spent summers as a young boy sketching the small fishing outports around St John’s. I think I’m just discovering now what impact my early years spent in Newfoundland have on my painting direction in this stage of my life.
