World Refugee Day Celebration 2024

The United Nations has designated June 20th as World Refugee Day and every year, the Coalition of Refugee Service Agencies-along with community organizations around the globe- hosts a community event to comemorate the occasion. This year, we invite you to come join us at the Clarkston Community Center Inc (501c3) for our 11th annual World Refugee Day celebration on Saturday, June 22 from 11:00am-2:00pm! This is a day dedicated to recognizing and uplifting the numerous communities of individuals from around the world who have found a new home in Georgia.This event will showcase and celebrate the culture of Georgia's many refugee and immigrant communities and will feature: -Traditional dances, cooking demonstrations, musical acts, a fashion show, and other cultural performances - Delicious food, beautiful handicrafts, jewlery, and other items sold within our vendor market by local immigrant-owned businesses. -Remarks from community leaders and elected officials at the local, state, and federal levels of government. Join us as we come together to stand in solidarity with refugees, asylum seekers, and other immigrants in our community who have been displaced from their home countries and who have found a new home in Georgia.This is a fun and festive opportunity to learn and connect with new neighbors, support small businesses, and be apart of our larger work to advocate for welcoming policies that protect and uplift Georgia's refugee and immigrant communities.
