About the event

There is something for everyone at Woodburn's Tree Lighting event! Enjoy holiday crafts and get your picture with Santa between 4:00-5:30pm over at the Woodburn Public Library. Then gather in the Downtown Plaza starting at 5:30pm for the tree lighting portion of the event. Write a letter to Santa, sip on cocoa, enjoy carolers and go on a scavenger hunt with Woodburn Recreation & Parks. Then watch as the Downtown Plaza tree lights up with holiday cheer!

The City of Woodburn invites kids to show off their creativity in our Holiday Art Contest. The winning design will be featured on the official City of Woodburn Holiday Postcard and the artist will receive the honor of helping light the community tree at Woodburn’s Annual Tree Lighting event!

Who Can Enter

Open to all students in grades K–12 who live or attend school in Woodburn.
Entries may be submitted individually (no group submissions).

Theme

Holiday Cheer in WoodburnDesigns should reflect the joy, warmth, and spirit of the holiday season in our community.

Submission Guidelines

Artwork must be original and created by the student.
Acceptable mediums: drawing, painting, digital art, or mixed media (no photography).
Artwork needs to be standard paper size (8.5” x 11”), landscape orientation is preferred.
Artwork does not need to reflect a postcard design, as it will be altered to fit a template if selected
A submission form (online or physical) must be submitted with all contact information filled in.
Physical artwork will need to be dropped off in person with name and contact information written on the back.

Prizes

Grand Prize Winner: Artwork featured on the official 2025 City of Woodburn Holiday Postcard + opportunity to help light the community tree at the Woodburn Tree Lighting on December 6th at 5:30pm.
ALL Submissions: Artwork displayed at the Bungalow Theatre in downtown Woodburn for the months of December & January.

All submissions will be notified of the contest results the week of November 24th and invited to attend the Tree Lighting event on Saturday, December 6th to celebrate!
