Join us this summer as we proudly revive a cherished tradition and introduces a brand-new series: "The Steps: Grassroots Concert Series" We're taking live music back to its roots – the historic steps of the Heckscher Museum at Heckscher Park in Huntington , where the historic 'Huntington Summer Arts Festival' began. Get ready to enjoy an exciting lineup of talented local Long Island musicians, performing on select Friday evenings throughout the festival season. These intimate and vibrant concerts will serve as the perfect prelude to the evening's main performances on the Chapin Rainbow Stage, offering you even more opportunities to immerse yourself in the joy of live music. Welcome to The Steps: Talent Application! 

 

This is the place for you to submit your application and join us for our inaugural The Steps: Grassroots Concert Series on the historic steps of the Heckscher Museum!

 

This program is in partnership with Huntington Arts Council and Heckscher Museum. Performers are supported by Huntington Arts Council's Long Island Grants for the Arts Program with the support of the Office of the Governor and the NYS Legislature.

 

Event Information

 

EVENT TIME: 5-7PM

 

Performers will provide live entertainment for Heckscher Museums exciting new programs "Food Truck Fridays" and "In the Mix"  and conclude prior to performances of the Huntington Summer Arts Festival. Specific set times will be communicated upon selection.

 

LOCATION: The Steps of the Heckscher Museum at Heckscher Park - 2 Prime Ave, Huntington, NY 11743

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Sunday June 29th, 2025

 

Who Can Apply?

 

This application is exclusively open to local Long Island musicians and musical acts across various genres. We are especially interested in acoustic, folk, jazz, indie, and other genres suitable for an intimate, outdoor setting.

 

Due to the guidelines of the grant funding this program, musicians applying must reside in either Suffolk or Nassau County. Applications from outside these counties will not be considered at this time.

 

Stipend Information

 

We believe in compensating artists for their talent.

 

For "The Steps: Grassroots Concert Series" performances, selected artists will receive a stipend ranging from $300 to $500 per performance date.

 

Please note: By submitting this application, you agree that you are willing to be compensated within this stated stipend range, as determined by the final booking and production needs.

How It Works:

 

  • Browse and Select: Review the available dates for "The Steps" series and submit your application for the dates you are interested in.
  • Review Details: Carefully review the application questions and ensure you meet the general requirements for the series.
  • Notification and Onboarding: We will notify you if you are selected for a performance opportunity. If chosen, we will follow proper procedures to onboard you and provide all necessary information regarding your set time, technical details, and compensation.
