Watermark Publishing Group, Central Florida’s LGBTQ news source, wants to answer these questions through the documentary, “Greetings from Queertown: Orlando.” We will go back to the beginning and tell the stories of this brave LGBTQ community that built Orlando’s political and nightlife scene, that struggled through the HIV/AIDS crisis and that created Pride and Gay Day at Disney World. Orlando has a rich LGBTQ history and it’s time to tell that story.

Filmed version of a live theatrical performance written by Wanzie and Directed by Kenny Howard; three actors of varying ages - Josh (now Grey) Leftkowitz, Joshua Roth, and Wanzie appear onstage together as various versions of the playwright himself. In this autobiographical life journey we see Wanzie running away from his unhappy home-life in Connecticut to become a Jungle Cruise Skipper in the Magic Kingdom. We follow, not only his Disney and theatrical careers, but his simultaneously going on a religious quest while struggling to come to terms with his own homosexuality, and eventually the AIDS crisis. From confessing her sins at Mary Queen of the Universe Shrine to casual hook-ups on her way to starring in “La Cage au Folles” at Theatre Downtown. The film was conceived by Wanzie who also co-directed with Jason Piecarski, filming at prominent places of business (and worship) throughout the Greater Orlando Area.
