Panhandle Frames: Local Short Films Showcase is a 90-minute showcase presented by the Greater Amarillo Film Commission. The event will be held at Panhandle PBS on the evening of Thursday, April 2, 2026. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Screening begins at 7:00 p.m. Q&A with the filmmakers will be offered after the last film.
Our goal is simple: screen as many Panhandle-made short films as possible in one night. Shorter films help us showcase more voices, so works under 10 minutes are strongly encouraged, with films ranging from .30 seconds up to 39 minutes considered as space allows. This is a non-competitive showcase focused on visibility, connection, and celebrating local storytellers. We want to give as many local filmmakers as possible a chance to see their work on a big screen with an audience of their peers.
Films do not have to be final cuts, premiers, or completed within a certain timeframe. They must, however, be filmed in the greater Amarillo area or the filmmaker must reside in the greater Amarillo area. More than one film may be submitted, but each submission requires a separate application. Filmmakers are highly encouraged to only submit their best work, or a project/ proof of concept they are currently creating. Applications and submissions are due Monday, March 9, 2026. All details and the application may be found here. There is no fee to enter.
Each selected film will receive four passes. This showcase is for our local filmmaking community and as such will not be marketed to the public. However, selected filmmakers are encouraged to invite family, friends, cast and crew, and additional passes will be provided on a first-come first-served basis subject to venue capacity.
