Get ready to let the good times roll at the 3rd Annual Lighted Mardi Gras Parade in downtown Bastrop! Following a full day of Mardi Gras Festival festivities, this exciting lighted evening parade kicks off at 6:00 PM, filling the streets with music, colorful floats, festive throws, glowing decorations, and plenty of beads. The parade will follow the traditional downtown route, beginning at Bastrop High School, traveling west on Cedar Street, continuing south along Main Street, and ending at Emile Street. Local businesses, organizations, and community groups are invited to join the fun and help bring the spirit of Mardi Gras to life for spectators lining the route. Grab your beads, turn up the music, and come celebrate an unforgettable night of Carnival in Bastrop!

Parking instructions
Parking will be available on side streets surrounding the registration and lineup area. Participants must not block driveways or park in any manner that creates an obstruction on public roads. Additional participant parking is available Jerry Fay Wilhelm Center for the Performing Arts (PAC) (1401 Cedar Street, 78602). Participants may also park at the Bastrop Convention Center, which is designated as a prep & load location.

Health & safety
Participant safety is a top priority during both the parade lineup and the parade route. Please review the following health and safety reminders and plan accordingly. Hydration & Weather Preparedness: Participants should bring water and stay hydrated, especially during extended lineup times. Dress appropriately for weather conditions, including sun exposure, cold temperatures, or rain. Plan ahead for personal comfort and health needs. Lineup Area Awareness: The lineup area will remain active with moving vehicles, floats, and participants. Stay alert at all times, follow staff and volunteer instructions, and keep clear of travel lanes. Children must be supervised at all times while in the lineup area. Parade Rules: 1. Allowed throwing of beads & approved items only. Entries must have walkers on each side of the vehicle/float. 2. No Use of electronic devices by float drivers and vehicle operators. 3. All parade entries must check in at the designated registration location as shown on the Lineup Map beginning at 4pm. Registration will end at 5:30pm and no entries will be allowed into the lineup after this time. 4. Parade begins promptly at dark, around 6:00 PM, rain or shine. 5. No consumption of alcohol allowed. 6. A licensed driver must operate all vehicles, trucks, golf carts, ATVs/UTVs or other large motorized equipment. Small motorized vehicles must be operated by persons age twelve or older. 7.Exercise caution and maintain control of float and participants during the parade. 8. Riders must remain seated and may not hang over the sides of floats or vehicles. Do not load or exit floats during the parade. 9. Maximum height for any float, vehicle, or other parade entry is twelve feet. 10. 18-wheelers and tractor-trailers are not permitted. 11. All parade entries must be decorated with Mardi Gras-themed lights. 12. Horses must have a current negative Coggins Test and must either be diapered or have walkers behind them to clean up after them. 13. Dance troupes and walking groups may not stop to perform or solicit funds during the parade. 14. Disassemble at suggested locations--not at the end of the parade route. 15. Participants who fail to follow parade rules may be removed from the parade or lineup at any time and may be asked not to return.
