This three-week acrylic painting class explores the narrative landscapes of Thomas Cole and the Hudson River School. Students will focus on composition, storytelling, and using landscape elements to guide the viewer’s eye and convey meaning.
This class will be dedicated to reproducing a Cole-inspired work to understand structure and compositional flow.
A great class for artists interested in deeper meaning and strong composition in their work.
What You’ll Learn:
Foreground, middle ground, and background
Strong landscape composition
Visual storytelling
Creating narrative through placement
Supply List (Required):
Acrylic paints (intermediate to professional grade only)
Must include Burnt Umber and Yellow Ochre
Brushes: Large, medium, and small round and flat brushes
Canvas: 11×14 canvas board or stretched canvas
Acrylic matte medium
All other supplies will be provided.
Beginner-grade paints are not recommended. Paint quality makes a significant difference in results.
