LagoonFest celebrates one of the most picturesque waterways and estuaries in The Palm Beaches . . . Lake Worth Lagoon. Come enjoy this FREE event on November 6, 2021 to discover what makes this Lagoon such a local treasure and fantastic place to visit. This free event takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., on November 6, 2021, along Flagler Drive in downtown West Palm Beach. Bring the entire family and enjoy wildlife presentations, participate in Kayak Clean-Up Tours, Catamaran History Tour, Paddleboard Yoga Demonstrations, Mural Painting Wall, stop by exhibitor booths, Kid Zone, Calendar Showcase and more! And happening right next door is the West Palm Beach Green Market, featuring delicious foods, locally-grown seasonal fruits, and veggies. What a delightful way to spend a Saturday. Learning, living, and loving Lake Worth Lagoon. Finding water in The Palm Beaches is easy. It’s everywhere you go. From 47 miles of spectacular beaches, to sunsets over Lake Okeechobee’s teeming waters, to the one-of-a-kind Florida Everglades. (Bring cooler, snacks & water, as needed) * After check-in at Meyer Stage, Please report to your Coordinator 15 minutes before start of shift.. * If you need a break, please call your coordinator to replace you at your station until you return. Emergency: Please call 911. For 1st AID, please direct to one of our Information booths where a 1st aid kit is available. (Kit will have limited items.)

MASCOT VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR – will have a list of Mascots/Names/Agencies and Cell Phone #s to check in at the Meyer Amphitheatre Stage area MASCOT Volunteers report and check-in at the Meyer Amphitheater Stage area with the Mascot Coordinator and get “Mascot Parade” instructions. You have access to the back stage dressing area for changing. You can also use this area to take breaks and rehydrate away from the public. -MASCOT COORDINATOR will arrange and manage the “MASCOT PARADE” and time schedule. -Handlers to assist in dressing Mascot, escorting/guiding mascot through the LagoonFest Event Site and engage mascots with the public and photo ops. -Mascots (while interacting with guest) please do not hug or touch guest. -Handlers and Mascots - Be mindful of the temperature and take as many breaks as needed. Stay hydrated. - ENGAGE Event Goers! While preforming the duties as stated above, the MASCOT is frequently required to listen, use hands, walk, move and dance. The MASCOT and handler may be required to walk and stand for an hour at a time and may occasionally be required to work outside in various climates and environments.

KIDS ZONE Area includes a variety of kid friendly interactive booths and fun-play areas. Kids Zone Coordinator will “manage” activities and volunteers, assist with set up, make sure all kids zone booths are staffed and have all necessary materials, check on volunteers for breaks. KIDS Zone volunteers MUST be friendly, engaging, patient, some artistic talent, anglers to teach “casting” and enjoy kids.

FACE PAINTING Volunteers must be patient, somewhat artistic, engaging and enjoy kids. Ready to paint!

KIDS Casting Area volunteers must have fishing/casting skills to teach and demonstrate to children how to cast a fishing pole. Volunteers must be patient, enjoy kids and skilled at getting fishing lines untangled.

The Tortoise Burrow is a handcrafted model of a Gopher Tortoise burrow that kids and small adults can crawl through the entrance and experience a burrow and its commensal friends that live in there too. Need to monitor the burrow, may need to encourage kids to explore or limit/control the crawls. Volunteers must be outgoing, engage the guests and provide information (provided to you).

MURAL BOOTH/TENT volunteers must be patient, engaging with participants, somewhat artistic and help event goers and children to participate in painting large LagoonFest Murals.

LAWN TOYS in the KIDS ZONE area volunteers will be responsible for keeping toys in the area, some lawn toys may require cleaning in between use. Volunteers can engage and encourage families to relax and let kids play with lawn toys. Should be patient and like kids.

-Volunteer Check-in requires an organized, multi-tasker and good communicator that will check in ALL LagoonFest volunteers; provide a Volunteer T-shirt and information about the volunteer assignments. - Be able to contact specific “area” Volunteer Coordinators via phone or radio - Assist with MASCOT check-in and changing area -Manage the Volunteer break area for lunch and water, bathrooms - “MAN” – Manage/Control public traffic in and out of the amphitheater - Volunteers must make themselves aware of event purpose and activities, be outgoing and engage with attendees/volunteers, provide direction as needed - Keep area neat, clean of trash

BOAT TOUR GUIDES/NARRATORS are knowledgeable about the history, habitat and restoration projects in Lake Worth Lagoon and communicate that information on an approximately 30 minute boat tour. Specifically South Cove and Tarpon Cove, boat tour areas. - Be outgoing and engage with attendees, 1 person assigned to each boat tour. - Please report to BOAT DOCK 30 minutes before start of shift. - Communication with the Boat Captain and assist with participant Sign up and waivers (day of event) at the Boat Tour Tent – staff the tent
