Barbecue Dinner, Live & Silent Auction, Music & Dancing ~ Benefitting the Kyle Thomas Spane Endowment at Fred Hutch Cancer and Research Center. Kyle Spane, son of Tom and Nancy Spane, was a Puyallup born-and-raised young man. He attended Maplewood, Aylen, and Puyallup High School where he was a football player and student leader. He was a Washington State University alum and loyal Coug. Kyle Spane taught biology and physics at Sumner High School and then worked as a project manager in the construction field. In January 2024, he was unexpectedly diagnosed with stage-four colon cancer. He fought this cancer with incredible grace and strength. Seven months later, at age 35, Kyle passed away leaving his wife and young son. Putting action behind their grief, family and friends raised $2 million to establish the The Kyle Thomas Spane Endowment at Fred Hutch. Dedicated to making a positive difference for future patients and families, we are generating more funds to meet the goals for research, prevention, and early detection efforts.
