Step into a world of imagination and introspection during Dreams & Sounds — a 90-minute immersive experience in the Dogwood Arts gallery space. Surrounded by the ethereal works of Lauren Adams' Nocturnal Landscapes and Dream Vortex series, you’ll be guided through an evening of insight, art, and sound. Artist and psychologist Asante Knowles will open the evening with a talk on the history and psychology of dreams — exploring the spaces we enter while dreaming, the influence of frequencies on the mind, and sharing original poetry. Visual artist Lauren Adams will lead a discussion of her dream-inspired exhibition, offering a deeper look into the work on view. The evening culminates in a meditative Sound Bath by Luminous Mary, designed to relax the body and awaken the subconscious. Let your senses drift — and your mind wander.

Lauren Adams is a classically trained painter but also an observer of beauty in all things. She explores landscapes great and small, from mountains to microcosms. “By opening your mind on what a landscape is, you can be aware of the marks we make in our lives, physically, mentally, and spiritually.” In her most recent exploration of landscape painting, she has created a two part series where observes the marks we leave in our beds, our “Nocturnal Landscapes”, and our journey into the "Dream Vortex". “There’s a quiet beauty, when the light hits the tapestry of where you slept. Our sheets and quilts no longer stay as their labeled objects, but become rushing waves, rolling hills, or even Dover cliffs. There’s a memory there. A moment. And a mark left from the journey into the dream realm.”

Asante Knowles

Asante Knowles: Asante is an artist and PHD student in the Psychology program at the University of Tennessee. He writes poetry, music, and stories. His dream is to use his Psychology degree and network of artists to start a holistic health center for underserved communities. He's all about love, light, and laughs.

Luminous Mary

Luminous Mary: Mary is a vibrational artist passionate about converging the physical, mental, spiritual and emotional body, into a melting pot of resonance. Sound baths nurture the body, mind and soul. Aligning you with higher frequencies and universal consciousness. Every sound bath she offers elevates your body on a cellular level, adjusting your energy field to a deeper resonance with the earth and homeostasis. Mary uses a combination of crystal singing bowls, gongs, rattles, chimes, shurti-box, her voice and more to guide the sound journey. Each experience includes gentle breath-work, quantum heart coherence and is infused with intention to offer a space where mindfulness meets emptiness, and you discover bliss. A multi-sensory experience. Leaving you feeling lighter, restored and connected.
