THE ALAMEDA COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT (ACFD) provides all-risk emergency services to the unincorporated areas of Alameda County (excluding Fairview), the cities of San Leandro, Dublin, Newark, Union City and Emeryville, the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. With 29 fire stations and 35 companies serving a population of 394,000, the ACFD serves densely populated urban areas, waterways, industrialized centers, extensive urban interface, agricultural and wildland regions. Over 400 personnel and 100 Reserve Firefighters provide a wide variety of services to an ever expanding, dynamic and diverse area of roughly 508 square miles.

Alameda Health System (AHS) is an integrated public health care system that includes hospitals, ambulatory care wellness centers, five post-acute facilities, and the only adult Level 1 Trauma Center and psychiatric emergency department in Alameda County. AHS is committed to promoting wellness and optimizing the health of the community through the mission of caring, healing, teaching and serving all.

The Alameda County Lead Poisoning Prevention Program has grown to become a national leader in initiatives to promote healthy homes and prevent lead poisoning in children. Our office offers services for residential hazard reduction, environmental health, and health under one roof. As we expanded, we began to embrace the idea of health homes and changed our name to the Healthy Homes Program. To lessen safety risks, we have assisted property owners in spending over $1 million on upkeep and improvements. In addition, we offer lead hazard reduction services, training, community outreach, education, and consultations, as well as case management for children who have been exposed to lead.

Alignment is practicing a bold new idea: it is possible to solve the complicated issues in health care while being financially responsible. We must care anywhere and do so by combining technology with better care—over the phone, online, in doctors’ offices and the senior’s home.

The Center for Elders’ Independence provides high quality, affordable, integrated healthcare services to the elderly, which promote autonomy, quality of life and the ability of individuals to live independently in their communities. Established in 1982 as an Adult Day Health Care program, CEI transitioned in 1992 to a Program for All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). PACE utilizes an interdisciplinary care team approach to provide comprehensive care for seniors with complex medical conditions.

Founded in 1969, Centro Legal de la Raza is a legal services agency protecting and advancing the rights of low-income, immigrant, Black, and Latinx communities through bilingual legal representation, education, and advocacy. By combining quality legal services with know-your-rights education and youth development, Centro Legal de la Raza ensures access to justice for thousands of individuals throughout Northern and Central California.

The San Leandro Human Services department provides service programs to residents of San Leandro and Alameda County that includes food access, transportation, socialization and community education programs.

Community Resources for Independent Living (CRIL) is a peer-based disability resource organization that advocates and provides resources for people with disabilities to improve lives and make communities fully accessible.

Horizon is a 501C3 non-profit substance use disorder treatment agency serving Bay Area communities since 1976. Spanning multiple Bay Area Counties including San Mateo, Alameda & Santa Clara, in addition to rural counties such as Butte; Horizon reaches some 11,000 community members struggling with substance use challenges across Sobering Center, Residential, Detox & Outpatient Counseling programs. Horizon’s in-school prevention programs impact over 22,000 youth annually at over 21 Bay Area schools to educate about both risk and protective factors associated with high-risk drug and alcohol use.

The Friendly Visitor Program is a free resource that provides companionship to homebound seniors in Alameda County. Through weekly visits with volunteers, the program helps reduce social isolation and loneliness, improves mental and physical health, and fosters intergenerational connection and understanding. The Friendship Line supports all counties in California. It is a free resource available 24/7/365 for adults over 60, adults over 18 with mental and/or physical differences. We also support the caregivers of vulnerable adults and offer inbound and outbound calls, referral services and privacy.

Juniper Corner is a San Leandro-based nonprofit dedicated to creating play and learning opportunities for kids, toddlers and their families: we host monthly "pop-up" events, free and open to the public, and are gearing up to open a permanent playspace location in San Leandro in 2025!

The Lambda Youth Project provides essential services to LGBTQIA+ youth who are facing challenges such as substance misuse, depression, and anxiety. Research reveals that these youth make more suicide attempts than their non-LGBTQIA+ peers.

LAS provides free legal services to seniors throughout Alameda County, including free legal advice and information, representation in court and administrative hearings, referrals to other community resources, and community education and training on legal issues. HICAP provides free and unbiased community education, individual counseling, and advocacy to Medicare beneficiaries about Medicare, Supplemental Insurance, Prescription Drugs and Medicare Advantage plans, Long Term Care Insurance, Medicare Appeals, and Low Income Assistance programs.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is committed to providing free information, resources and support to patients and families affected by blood cancer.
