    Shifts are in 3 and 4 hour increments. The safety and well-being of attendees, volunteers, and participants are our top priorities. To ensure that we provide the highest standard of care in the event of a medical emergency, all individuals volunteering for our First Aid Team are required to hold (and provide proof of) a current First Aid Certification from a recognized organization, such as the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or National Safety Council. This requirement is in place for the following reasons: 1. Immediate and Effective Response – In an emergency, seconds count. Certified volunteers have the essential knowledge and skills to respond quickly and appropriately to medical incidents, potentially saving lives. 2. Consistency in Care – Certification ensures that all first aid volunteers are trained in standardized emergency protocols, reducing the risk of errors and ensuring proper coordination with professional medical personnel. 3. Liability & Legal Compliance – By requiring certification, we align with best practices in event safety, mitigating legal risks for both volunteers and Cathedral City LGBT+ Days. 4. Confidence & Preparedness – A certified volunteer is more confident and capable of handling injuries, medical conditions, or high-stress situations, ensuring a safer environment for everyone. 5. Seamless Collaboration with EMS – Certified volunteers can effectively communicate and assist emergency medical services (EMS) upon arrival, ensuring a smooth handoff in critical situations.

    Official contestants will compete in three areas: LIP SYNC, RUNWAY LOOK, and WHEEL OF SHADE on the Community Amphitheater Stage.

     

    Cat City Drag Race is open to any person who seeks to become Royal Highness of Cathedral City in a drag competition during Tastes & Sounds of Cathedral City's Kickoff to LGBT+ Days on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 between the hours of 5pm and 8pm, and who shares the values of the CCLGBT+ DAYS’s mission of equality for all people.

     

    Each of the selected drag contestants (maximum 8) in the competition will receive a guaranteed $200 performance fee. The performance fee requires each drag queen to perform one lip sync, one runway look with the category of “Bring It Like Royalty,” and participation in the Wheel of Shade. 

     

    Contestants Judged by a Panel of Judges on the following:

    1.  Originality

    2.  Style

    3.  Personality

    4.  Performance

     

    In accordance with the rules of the competition, the winner of the competition will recieve the following:

    • Title of “Royal Highness of Cathedral City” for one year
    • Crown and Sash
    • $500 Visa/MasterCard Gift Card
    • Performance spot alonside some of the biggest names in drag on the Main Stage for LGBT+ Days (Saturday, March 7, 2026) 
    • Photo/name/title shown on the City's electronic billboard on Hwy 111
    • Bragging rights

    VENUE: CATHEDRAL CITY CIVIC CENTER 

     

    LGBT+ Days Bed Race is open to any person/business who seeks to compete in the 2026 LGBT+ Days Bed Race Sunday, March 8, 2026 between the hours of 11am and 1pm, and who shares the values of the CCLGBT+ DAYS’s mission of equality for all people.

     

    Each of the selected Bed Race contingents (five persons per bed - four to push and one to ride) are required to decorate a city supplied bed/float and push the bed down the parade route for review by a panel of judges. Official contingents will compete in two areas: PARADE ENTRY and BED RACE TIME.

     

    Parade Entry will be judged by a Panel of Judges on the following:

    1.  Creativity & Orignality

    2.  Theme Adherance 

    3.  Presentation & Showmanship

    4.  Crowd Appeal

    Scores in these four categories will be added for a cumulative total. 

     

    Each contingent will then race (or walk if not going for time) down the Bed Race route to the finish line with a time keeper tracking the fastest time. 

     

    Award Categories are:

    Grand Prize - Presented to the best overall entry.

    Mayor's Award - Presented to the entry which best depicts the parade theme.

    Spirit Award - Presented to the entry which best personifies enthusiasm and brings the greatest pleasure to and response from the spectators. 

    Innovation Award - Presented to the entry which shows the most creativity and originality. 

    Fast & Furious Award - Presented to the entry which has the fastest time in the Bed Race.

     

    In accordance with the rules of the competition, the winners in each category will receive the following:

    • Trophy 
    • Photo/name/title shown on the City's electronic billboard on Hwy 111
    • Bragging rights

    The winners of the Grand Prize will also receive, in additiona to the above, the following:

    A Prize package worth over $1000.
