Aspiring Artists 2026 - summer

Have your aspiring artists join Molly Nelko for an 8-week camp! In each session, participants will explore a variety of media and techniques. Let them learn about what it takes to be an artist—from creation to exhibiting their work—in this weekly two hour class at Kentuck while you take some time for you! At the end your kids will help host their own art show here at Kentuck in the Teer Gallery to display their pieces. Opening night will be Art Night, August 6, 2026, from 5-8 PM. Registration includes all supplies, framing, and snacks for the opening. There are two sessions: Session A: Ages 12-16 Session B: Ages 8-12 June: Self portraits Printmaking Collaboration Still Life painting July: Paper Mache Open Choice Show Prep Show Prep THERE WILL BE NO CLASS JUNE 30TH OR JULY 1ST. This class will be located in the newly available Studio 2 which is located behind Rusty the big red dog on our campus. Look for the blue double doors in the Courtyard of Wonders! Molly Nelko is Kentuck Art Center’s Arts Education Manager. A native of Mobile, Alabama, she graduated magna cum laude from Spring Hill College with a BA in Fine Art, with a focus on oil painting and printmaking. Molly is an experienced teaching artist who has led classes at Kentuck for over four years, contributing significantly to the growth of Kentuck’s year-round programming. ​ Her work has been exhibited from Portland, Oregon to Hilton Head, South Carolina, and she works in a variety of media including encaustic, tessellations, and ink wash. Molly lives in Coker with her husband, three children, and their cat, Quill. This workshop is sponsored in part by the Alabama State Council on the Arts.
