40th Annual Salute to Freedom

The entrance for the fireworks parking at the Mt. Vernon Airport will be at the maintenance entrance (Firebaugh Drive) from 5pm until approximately 8:45pm. This is west of Aviation Drive (main entrance). No traffic will be allowed in the main entrance during this time, only at the maintenance entrance. Hangar passes will only be accepted until 7pm. Both the maintenance drive (Firebaugh Dr) and main airport drive (Aviation Dr) will be used as an exit after the conclusion of the fireworks. Both lanes of IL Hwy 15 will be used for westbound traffic leaving the fireworks all the way into town. The only east bound traffic at the conclusion of the fireworks will be from Aviation Dr and IL Hwy 15. Please use caution in this area as there will be a large number of vehicle and pedestrian traffic during this time. Personal fireworks (including sparklers) and pets are prohibited at this event. Detours and closures: 7:00 pm - IL Hwy 15 west bound traffic will be diverted to Dartmouth 8:50 pm - IL Hwy 15 east bound traffic will be diverted to Old Fairfield Rd. There will be no east bound traffic on IL Hwy 15 from Wagner and Liebengood. Chestnut at IL Hwy 15 will be closed.
