The Permian Basin Association of Directional Drilling's (PBADD) annual Basin Burnout Cook-off & Music Festival is a dynamic fundraising event that combines the best of the oil and gas industry's community spirit with a heartfelt mission to support U.S. military veterans. Each year, amateur BBQ competition teams - representing a mix of oilfield service companies, public and private energy firms, and local businesses - gather for an unsanctioned BBQ showdown. These teams battle it out in various BBQ categories for the chance to be crowned the best in the Basin and take home the highly sought-after "Grand Champion" belt. The event also features a "Fan Favorite" award, where more than 3,000 attendees cast their votes to recognize their top pick. In addition to the thrilling BBQ competition, the Basin Burnout offers an electrifying music festival. Past headliners have included renowned artists such as Scott Stapp, the Voice of Creed, who rocked the stage in 2024. The festival brings together live performances that enhance the vibrant atmosphere, making it a must-attend event for music lovers and BBQ enthusiasts alike.
