Friends of the Milton Library (FOML) is a non-profit organization of citizen volunteers and supporters who believe that an excellent library is essential to a community, and who work to assist the Milton Library Branch to meet the needs of our community. The organization welcomes all library users, library lovers, and library supporters.
Before There was a Milton Library, there were Friends of the Milton Library. A small group of community members incorporated the FOML on January 8, 2013. Working diligently with Fulton County, this group was able to influence the design of the library specific to the needs of Milton residents. Additionally, they were able to reconstruct one of the historic barns from the Dinsmore property as a space that the FOML would be able to use for book sales and fundraising activities to support the library and the community.
The FOML provides financial support to enrich library programs and services that are not covered by the Fulton County budget. Our Friends of the Milton Library Book Barn sales are our primary source of income. The book barn can hold nearly 15,000 donated gently used and sometimes very unique books, which our wonderful team of volunteers organizes weekly.
While we do not have any employees, we do have a 10 member board of directors and more than 330 past and present Friends (and growing). In 2018, 54 FOML volunteers recorded over 1,826 total volunteer hours for the library.
With current renovation projects temporarily closing other area libraries the Milton Library has become even more vital to our community.
