About the event

HOURS: 10 am - 5 pm daily (Early Bird Ticket: 9 am on Friday only). Come shop, play, tour and make memories during this 80-year-old tradition -- the Waterford Foundation's "Waterford Fair"! The Fair is the mid-Atlantic's quintessential fall festival with demonstrating fine heritage & contemporary craft artisans, living historians, a juried art show, historic properties tour, local libations, Waterford Craft School talks & workshops, and entertainment for all ages. Located in the National Historic Landmark of Waterford (f. 1733), this unique village is situated in Western Loudoun County, Virginia. Noted as "DC's Wine Country", we are only 50 minutes from the District of Columbia. Tickets go on sale in August. Children (12 & under) & Foundation members FREE! Ticket types: VIP, Early Bird (Fri only), youth, single day, military, 3-day passes and seniors (over 65). About the application

Thank you for your interest in joining the Welcome Team! Join us to help make every Waterford Fair visitor feel welcomed, informed, relaxed, and ready to enjoy our wonderful Fair from the moment they enter the village. The Welcome Operations team is comprised of friendly volunteers who serve as greeters and sell tickets to our guests after they park and prepare to enter the Fair. Join us if you enjoy serving as an ambassador for our village and our Fair, and help make their first contact at our event a positive experience. Volunteers on this team will be busy the entire shift. They will welcome visitors, direct them to ticket sales, sell tickets, scan pre-paid tickets, hand out Fair booklets, answer questions, give tips and advice, and direct people to Fair areas or events. For afternoon shifts, you'll often be the last person Fair guests will see as they leave for their cars, which is one more chance to thank them and invite them back for next year.

Terms & Conditions

Volunteers for this team need to love interacting with people and feel comfortable representing our community. Volunteer positions are a minimum of 4 hours to receive a free Fair ticket. The shifts for these volunteer positions go by very quickly and it's typically a great deal of fun. As an ambassador for the Foundation and the village welcoming visitors to Waterford, please follow the golden rule and treat fairgoers, residents, staff and other volunteers as you would wish to be treated. Be polite, helpful and if you are unable to assist someone find someone who can (e.g., your supervisor, information booth, sheriff's deputy, EMTs, staff, etc.). Waterford is a historic village and many of the properties are not accessible by wheel chair. If you have any special needs we should be made aware of regarding the projects you are volunteering for, please add a note in the application. Please dress for the weather. This is a rain or shine event. Volunteers must have their own transportation to and from their shift(s), and check in 15 minutes prior to their shift. By entering the Fair premises, you consent to being filmed and/or photographed for promotional purposes. Any person desiring not to have their photo/video taken or distributed must contact oldschool@waterfordfoundation.org in writing of his/her/their intentions before the event.
